Why are hyperscalers standardizing on DroneDeploy? (Part 1) An industry partner asked this question the other day so I thought I’d share a few thoughts on hyperscalers, followed by an interview with Matt Craske, who used to head up Google’s Global Program Controls division. The answer is pretty simple. Here's my biased-but-informed POV: 1. Autonomous capture – this is a no brainer. Large sites are a huge task for humans to capture. Docked drones are the new gold standard for autonomous aerial data, and with Embodied AI we’ve added ground robots (including American-made rovers) to the mix for a complete capture of the site, inside and out. Hyperscalers are looking for the partner that can make the capture process disappear, so they can stop begging humans to do it. 2. A unified platform – less software is better, and entry-level aerial data is not going to cut it when you’re tracking tens of thousands of yards of dirt on a project moving at the speed of AI.  Hyperscalers aren’t looking for point solutions that require separate apps for flight or robotic mission execution. They’re looking for one company to be accountable from the flight or ground robot capture to the end deliverable reporting. 3. Agents made with modern AI, not offshore humans – if it’s taking 12+ hours or longer to return a progress report, that’s a team of offshore humans, not an agent. Hyperscalers are realizing they can get progress data without exposing their sensitive intellectual property to offshore teams. They’re getting reports in minutes not hours. In the Matt's video we'll cover: 1. Use cases in data center construction 2. How reality capture gives all teams an objective truth, the site in a time capsule 3. ROI, "we've blown past the 5x ROI target" #datacenters #construction #realitycapture #programcontrols

When you have 1,200 workers on site, "I think it looked like that" isn't good enough. McCarthy Building Companies, Inc. documents every room from steel to paint – every week – so the record exists before anyone has to ask for it. If you're running data center construction programs and want to know how teams actually stand up reality capture at scale, we're covering exactly that on May 21st at 11 AM PT. I had a fantastic time at Xponential incudling on the panel: “The Future of Autonomous and Uncrewed Systems Education: Policy Developments and Strategic Partnerships." Here are my three biggest takeaways from the discussion: - Policy is Redefining the Classroom: Recent FCC and NDAA requirements around domestically manufactured uncrewed systems are a challenge for educators with small grant-tied budgest. Academic institutions are having to pivot on which platforms they use, many are investing more heavily in software and training. - Inclusion drives innovation: Hearing updates from the FAA and National Center for Autonomous Technologies (NCAT) on their work with the FAA’s UAS Collegiate Training Initiative (CTI) and the Universal Design for Learning (UDL) Curriculum Project reminded us that collaboration and steering for industry training is critical. Industry must lean in - Programs like the Elevate Scholarship are proof of how strategic industry-academic partnerships can bridge the skills gap, providing students with the technical training and certification to successed in the new autonomy ecosystem. A huge thank you to everyone who joined us for a packed room, asked great questions, and shared their perspectives. It’s going to take all of us: educators, administrators, and industry partners working together to fill the workforce gap. #XPO26 DroneDeploy National Center for Autonomous Technologies (NCAT) FlyGuys #HigherEducation #WorkforceDevelopment #DroneTechnology #STEM XPONENTIAL Show

Autonomous capture and embodied AI are moving from proof-of-concept to active job sites faster than most people anticipated. DroneDeploy is at the Oracle Learning Labs Robotics Summit in Deerfield, IL this week as a Premier Robotics Partner. We have a dry lab demo space on-site running live demonstrations of Embodied AI and Safety AI – come see how autonomous capture is changing how construction teams document conditions and monitor safety in real time. Our team will be presenting alongside BE&K Building Group on how these technologies are reshaping project delivery, facility management and end-to-end asset lifecycle management. Swing by our table. The demos are live and the technology is worth seeing in person. #robotics #construction #realitycapture #constructiontech

  • A data center looks like a box from the outside. Inside, it's one of the most complex builds in construction – hundreds of similar-looking rooms, thousands of installs and a schedule that doesn't slow down for anyone. McCarthy Building Companies, Inc. PM Eric Israel manages Vantage Data Centers' NV1 Data Center with over 1,200 workers on site every single day. When something goes wrong, or something needs to come back open, the question is always the same: what was there before? With DroneDeploy, his team doesn't have to guess. Every room gets photographed from steel and metal decking all the way through paint, every week, without exception. 360 walks, aerial maps, 3D models - all pulled up in meetings to show exactly what's happening and where. • Most project teams document their work. The question is whether that documentation holds up. When a sub files a claim or an owner asks for progress verification, the answer usually comes from whoever has the cleaner record. Join us June 23 at 10 AM PT for a webinar on what structured site documentation looks like in practice – drone maps, 360 walks and ground-level captures across an active jobsite. Pre-pour verification. In-wall conditions before close-up. As-built reference from start to finish. If your site photos currently live on someone's phone or in a shared folder, this session is worth your time. Volume checks in Seconds! That's all it takes!!! HOW? Simple. We use drones. It is quick and accurate for measurements 📐, such as volumes, lengths and areas! We love what it can do and the tremendous function of hashtag hashtag #transparency it can provide to us, our Clients and design engineers, showing real time progress directly from above 🛫 DJI DroneDeploy StructionSite (acquired by DroneDeploy) #drone #aerial #transperency #progress #visual #measurement #urban #subdivision #development #dji

  • At the Frisco Visual & Performing Arts Center, the documentation workflow is simple – fly once a week, and every capture lands in one organized, searchable place. No hunting through daily reports. No piecing together project history from scattered photos. Just high quality information, ready to pull up the moment someone asks a question. What makes it work isn't the technology alone – it's the habit. Thirty to sixty minutes of flying per week feeds a system that gives the entire team instant access to a clean, accurate record of the project at every stage. Joeris General Contractors built that workflow on a $100M performing arts build. The result is a team that spends less time finding information and more time acting on it. #construction #constructiontech #documentation
