Today we’re celebrating 10 years with Hank Warneck, our Washington Regional Principal and owner—an exceptional leader, friend, and master of well-timed humor. Hank’s dual background in construction and architecture shapes his thoughtful leadership. He brings clarity, common sense, and the ability to see challenges from multiple perspectives, setting a high standard for our work. Hank’s path to Dowbuilt began in the field. After college in Maine, he worked in construction as an apprentice carpenter in Sun Valley, Idaho—an experience that inspired him to pursue a degree in architecture and develop a design sensibility grounded in how things are actually built. After years working as an architect, Hank felt the pull back to construction and joined Dowbuilt in 2016 as a Project Engineer. Jim Dow reflects on Hank’s leadership in the Pacific Northwest: “Hank was a project manager on one of our most difficult projects built during COVID–one of the most difficult times to build. He led that project with compassion, strength, tenacity, and expertise. He continues to lead our Pacific Northwest team with that same skill and dedication. We all watch and marvel at what he’s able to do every day.” Beyond the job, Hank loves spending time with his wife and two daughters—often on bikes—and coworkers and friends know him as a hands-on dad. As longtime friend and colleague, Project Manager Kristin Kelsey, puts it, “Everyone loves Hank! He’s incredibly funny, and a great husband, father and friend. But mostly we know he’s cool because he rides a motorcycle.” He’s also your guy if you need to grab something off a high shelf—or require an ordained minister in a pinch! Congratulations on 10 years, Hank. Thank you for your grounded leadership and sharp wit—we’re so lucky to have you!

This month we celebrate 25 years with our Rocky Mountain Regional Principal and owner, Mark Atkinson, whose steady influence runs deep at Dowbuilt. Mark’s leadership and uncompromising standards set the bar for how we build—and how we care for our teams and clients. “Mark is a quiet giant of integrity and talent. He is one of the best builders, leaders, and humans at Dowbuilt,” says founder Jim Dow. Mark’s path in construction began as a boy tagging along to jobsites with his stepdad in Montana. Those formative experiences instilled his respect for craftsmanship and the people behind the work. He joined the company as a general carpenter 25 years ago, and today he is a Regional Principal and owner in the business. Mark brings a firsthand understanding of how great teams come together to build extraordinary projects. “You won’t find a better builder—he’s built amazing projects and, most importantly, relationships that will last even longer,” says CEO, Tim Farrell. His relationships are equally grounded outside the office. Mark is a dedicated family man who loves spending free time boating with his family on Lake Chelan. Congratulations, Mark—and thank you for everything you continue to build with us!

  • We’re honored to celebrate 25 years with our NorCal Foreman extraordinaire Mark Thomas—one of the most consistently upbeat builders in the Dowbuilt family. Known on jobsites as “Betcha!” (short for “You betcha!”), Mark has built a reputation for making anything happen—and doing it with a smile. Mark’s path as a builder began right out of high school, when he joined the Army as a Combat Engineer and built in some of the toughest environments imaginable. After four years of service, he moved into civilian construction, packing lumber for framing crews, and soon discovered the passion that would lead him to Dowbuilt. His Dowbuilt journey has taken him to many regions: from our first out-of-state project on Maui to three multi-year island builds, early work in New York, and now Northern California, where he’s been based since 2017. Mark has moved seamlessly between Superintendent and Foreman roles, where his hands-on field leadership, calm presence, deep technical ability, and get-it-done attitude shine brightly. That same enthusiasm carries into life outside work, where he’s an expert-level mountain biker and competitive dart player. He’s also one of the rare Dowbuilders who has worked alongside five of Jim Dow’s beloved dogs! Mark, thank you for 25 years of optimism, grit, and extraordinary craft. We’re grateful for every project—and every Dowbuilt location—you’ve helped build.

  • Celebrating 15 Years with Danielle Piotrowski! This month, we’re thrilled to celebrate 15 years with our Director of Talent Acquisition and Compensation, Danielle Piotrowski—a leader whose impact on Dowbuilt is felt in every corner of the company. What began as a role at the front desk quickly grew into a career defined by vision, care, and an unwavering commitment to building both our workforce and our culture. Danielle’s journey reflects her curiosity and drive to always do her best work. Her love for craft and design began early, growing up in a home in perpetual remodel and filled with furniture hand built by her dad. That foundation led her to interior design, and eventually to Seattle, where discovering Dowbuilt felt, in her words, like discovering her dream job at her dream company. Her peers describe her as a supportive and creative team player with a growth mindset. Danielle represents Dowbuilt with honesty, enthusiasm, and warmth. Marketing Operations Manager Mathea Kangas shared, “She is one of the reasons I wanted to work at Dowbuilt.” Over the years, Danielle has transformed our recruiting and rewards processes, strengthened our systems, and brought structure and thoughtfulness to how we hire. If you joined Dowbuilt in the last 15 years, chances are she helped open the door. Outside of work, Danielle is equally compassionate and creative—she’s a certified 200-hour registered yoga instructor, and her newest hobby is ice-dyeing! Danielle—thank you for helping shape who we are. Here’s to 15 years and counting!

  • Today we celebrate a decade with Project Manager Greg Crenshaw. Greg’s connection to construction began at a young age—helping his father and grandfather with woodworking projects and pitching in on family renovations—where he discovered the satisfaction of teamwork and seeing tangible progress at the end of each day. That early foundation shaped the steady, thoughtful leader he is today. Greg’s colleagues describe him as a quiet leader who consistently shows up with a calm, level-headed, get-it-done demeanor— then surprises you with a dose of the sharpest wit. He joined Dowbuilt in San Francisco as an apprentice carpenter on one of the region’s earliest large-scale builds, working alongside his childhood friend, our SoCal Regional General PM Scott Hanson, who shared, “Greg was immediately appreciated for his smarts, likability, and willingness to step up wherever he was needed most”. Ask Greg how he recharges, and he’ll tell you it’s all about being active and creative: surfing, snowboarding, painting, and music. He surfs year-round in Washington, is remodeling his house himself, and—before joining Dowbuilt—brewed nearly 400 gallons of beer in a year as a home brewer in White Center. He even spent one summer counting whales from an airplane in the San Juan Islands. Greg’s can-do attitude helped him move from apprentice carpenter to Foreman, to PE, and finally to his current role as PM in Seattle where he brings the same thoughtful, capable presence as he did on his first jobsite. Congratulations, Greg! We hope it will be at least another 10 years together!

  • Today we celebrate 10 incredible years with Dowbuilt Laborer Supervisor Jorge Barrera—one of the most respected and well-loved members of our Bay Area team. A decade in, Jorge continues to represent the best of Dowbuilt—dedicated, reliable, and quietly extraordinary. Known for his ability to keep projects running smoothly—he’s invaluable to every team. Senior Superintendent Rudy Karkowski says it best; everybody wants Jorge on their site—someone’s always trying to steal him for their project. Jorge has earned his reputation as the Mayor of the job site, whether running equipment, organizing the site, or mentoring new team members, Jorge knows every face and every detail. He’s got his ear to the ground—he knows what needs to happen and does it, says Superintendent Justin Syren. Colleagues say he’s the first to arrive on site, the last to leave, and the one quietly making everything run smoother—from setting up the perfect storage system to organizing the team barbecue. Everything’s better when Jorge’s around, Rudy says. “He's got superpowers, I tell you.” With seemingly endless energy, Jorge commutes on the train then bikes to job sites—often before sunrise. He spends weekends hiking and biking, catching up with family, and visiting his son in college. We’re proud to celebrate this milestone with you Jorge, and grateful for the countless ways you’ve shaped our Bay Area team. Here’s to you, our one and only Mayor of the job site. Thank you for ten amazing years!
