  • Our teams recently shared DG’s mission of #ServingOthers by spreading a little extra care in their communities in recognition of Mother's Day.   In Louisiana, Store Managers, led by District Manager April W., delivered flowers, teddy bears and cards to mothers at a local assisted living facility, along with throw blankets for bingo prizes. The outreach is part of District 375’s quarterly efforts to give back to the communities where our customers live and work.   “Serving our communities is truly rewarding, and I’m grateful for a team that believes in giving back and making a difference - one smile at a time,” April shared.   In San Antonio, Texas, our traditional distribution center donated diapers and baby wipes to San Antonio Birth Doulas, a local nonprofit that provides free services to low-income expectant mothers, new parents and their families - just in time for Mother’s Day.   Thank you to our teams for making a meaningful impact and giving back to the communities we serve.

  • Last month, our Alachua, Florida distribution center mobilized to support first responders battling wildfires across Alachua County and nearby communities. After PALMS MEDICAL GROUP reached out to help coordinate resources, our team quickly sprang into action. Supervisor Vinny V., previously a wildland firefighter with the Florida Forest Service, connected the DC with the agency to understand their most urgent needs. Through strong collaboration: ✅ Vendor partners supplied water and chap stick ✅ Dollar General secured more than $5,000 in essential items, including beef jerky, breakfast bars and sunblock (thanks to Eric V.) Cedric B. and Kampta B. pulled inventory, and Jarrett O. helped ensure everything was loaded and ready for delivery. “We’re proud to support the Florida Forest Service and local fire departments as they work tirelessly to protect our communities, and we’re grateful for the opportunity to help meet the immediate needs of first responders,” Peter Torres, senior director of the Alachua distribution center shared. It’s a powerful example of our team stepping up, working together and bringing our mission of #ServingOthers to life when it matters most. 💪🔥

  • “I used the self‑checkout with a spend $40, save $10 coupon, and it didn’t work. Bridget went above and beyond! She was extremely busy, but she never made me feel like an inconvenience. She helped me with everything I needed help with. She was remarkable to work with! I cannot say enough good about her. I wish more stores had employees like this. She truly did an outstanding job!” — Customer, Freeburg, IL We’re proud to recognize Bridget H. from our Freeburg, IL store for delivering outstanding customer service — especially on a busy day. Her willingness to slow down, support a customer, and ensure a positive in-store experience is a wonderful example of Dollar General’s commitment to Serving Others. • For more than 30 years, the Dollar General Literacy Foundation has been committed to expanding access to education for individuals of all ages across the country— a commitment rooted in our history and inspired by our co‑founder J.L. Turner’s own literacy journey. Today, we’re proud to celebrate another milestone in that legacy through awarding nearly $16 million to support adult, family, and summer literacy programs, setting a new record for the Foundation’s largest one-day donation for the second consecutive year. This milestone investment will benefit more than 1,400 schools, libraries and nonprofits in Dollar General’s hometowns and supports approximately 1.5 million learners in reaching their full potential. • We were honored to kick-off Military Appreciation Month with a meaningful visit from the Pepsi Rolling Remembrance truck at our Store Support Center - thanks to a collaboration between two employee resource groups - DG's SERVE and PepsiCo's VALOR. Together, we're recognizing the service and sacrifice of our military community. As part of the ceremony, we joined PepsiCo to present a $50,000 donation to Children of Fallen Patriots Foundation, a 501c3 nonprofit that provides college and trade school scholarships, educational assistance and career support to military children who have lost a parent in the line of duty. Special thanks to the Station Camp High School Army JROTC for leading the presentation of colors. And thank you to those who served and continue to serve! #MilitaryAppreciationMonth #ServingOthers Thomas Ratz Tony RogersDana Bowen Joel Phillips Betsy Harkleroad Timothy Mumma Lily Long Abbie Wittwer Harper Patricia Alsup Matthew Belcher

  • “We were so excited about the fresh fruits and vegetables, and I know people in big cities think ‘how corny can that be?’ That’s big to a small town that didn’t have it.” – Mayor Harold Crouch When many Chatom and Washington County residents in southwest Alabama needed a retail option to provide closer access to affordable everyday essentials including produce and food, although not a grocer, Dollar General acted by opening a new store to help serve many of the community’s needs.  “Dollar General was very good about working with us,” the Mayor added. “I really felt like they wanted to help the town grow and move in a good direction.”
