Civic engagement is at the heart of everything we do at Democracy Prep and last week our Endurance High School scholars brought that mission to life. 🌿💙 NYC Department of Parks & Recreation, our students headed to Pelham Bay Park for their Day of Service raking leaves, pulling weeds, sweeping, and contributing real work to the upkeep of one of New York City's most beloved green spaces. This is what we mean when we say we are developing the next generation of civic leaders. Our scholars don't just learn about community responsibility in a classroom they live it. At Democracy Prep we believe learning happens everywhere💙 As part of their Day of Service, Democracy Prep Harlem Prep High School students joined a live interview with Albert "Duke" Jones at the Harlem Business Alliance. Duke Jones is a trumpeter, father, and founding member of Atlantic Starr one of R&B's most celebrated groups Our scholars had the opportunity to witness a live media production, participate in a Q&A, and sit in conversation with a living legend. The experience of hearing elder wisdom directly on music, fatherhood, sacrifice, and legacy is something no classroom alone can replicate.
