In April of 1939 ten Dade County employees, with a sincere desire to help their colleagues, gathered $135 in an old cigar box and signed a certificate of origination, bringing Dade County Federal Credit Union into existence. From the humble beginnings of a few dollars collected in a cigar box by those early Credit Union pioneers, your credit union has grown to a multi-million dollar, professionally managed financial institution, which stands ready to turn your financial dreams into realities. We have branches from Miami Gardens to Homestead for your convenience, prepared to satisfy all of your banking needs. We are committed to serving you and our community. What happened: 📈 Donors and corporate sponsors raised $1.9 million in a single day, nearly double last year's $1 million total 🚑 Every dollar goes directly toward the new emergency room at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami-Dade County 🏥 The completed facility now stands as the largest emergency room in the United States 💗 Sponsors included the Miami HEAT and Dade County Federal Credit Union, alongside individual community donors Why this matters for healthcare access: Jackson Health System operates as the only public healthcare system in Miami-Dade County. That means it serves patients regardless of insurance status or ability to pay, a critical function in a region with significant uninsured and underinsured populations. When philanthropic funding fills gaps that traditional reimbursement models leave behind, hospitals can maintain staffing, technology, and capacity needed to deliver timely emergency care to everyone.
