  • Celebrating our people also means recognizing those who help keep our workplace safe. During a recent appreciation week, we highlighted the associates who consistently demonstrate care, responsibility, and teamwork across our sites. A key focus was recognizing the Top Five Security & Safety Observations, acknowledging individuals who go above and beyond to protect their colleagues and environment. We also kicked off the week with a Welcome to Work celebration, bringing teams together with positivity and connection, and proudly celebrated colleagues marking their 5-year work anniversaries, a meaningful milestone reflecting dedication and trust. At Crane Currency, safety and recognition go hand in hand. When people feel valued, supported, and heard, our culture grows stronger. Thank you to everyone who contributed to making the week meaningful and to all our associates who help create a safe, respectful, and collaborative workplace every day.

  • Some moments in a company’s history fall into legend and this story is one of them. In 1879, as the U.S. Treasury evaluated suppliers for its banknote paper, competition was fierce. Papermakers gathered in Washington, each aware that the decision would define U.S. history for years to come. Among them was a young Winthrop Murray Crane, closely following the bids as they unfolded. As the story goes, when it became clear that Crane needed to adjust its pricing, rivals attempted to delay him, even locking him in his room. Undeterred, he reportedly escaped, returned, and submitted a revised bid just in time to secure the contract. Whether legend or fact, the story endures for a reason. It reflects the combination of expertise, agility, and determination that has shaped Crane’s approach for generations. The result was a partnership that began in 1879 and continues today, built on quality, consistency, and trust. #225Years #CraneCurrency #BanknoteSecurity #SecureByDesign

In this first entry of our safety spotlight, we asked Christopher Camilleri, International EHS & Secure Materials Director at Crane Currency, what makes him most proud of the safety culture at Crane’s Ħal Far facility? This is what he had to say: “What makes me most proud is the genuine engagement of our teams in identifying and managing risk. Our workforce actively participates in risk assessments, safety inspections, and the reporting of safety observations. This has created a culture where safety is not seen as a compliance requirement, but as a shared responsibility. The consistency, transparency, and open communication we maintain, especially through regular presence on the shopfloor, have helped build trust and strengthen our collective commitment to keeping each other safe.” It’s an approach grounded in ownership, trust, and everyday action, where everyone plays a role in keeping each other safe. #CraneCurrency #SiteSafety #WorkplaceSafety #PeopleAtCrane

  • As we mark 225 years of innovation at Crane Currency, we begin by reflecting on a defining moment in our history. In 1844, Crane identified counterfeiting as the central challenge facing banks and responded with a breakthrough. By embedding colored silk or cotton threads into the paper during its formation, Crane introduced the first security thread as a practical solution to protect value. Since then, this innovation has evolved from simple embedded fibers into today’s sophisticated micro-optic features used across modern banknotes worldwide. This early development marked a pivotal shift, establishing the integration of security directly into durable cotton and cotton-flax banknote paper, a principle that continues to guide our work today. #225Years #BanknoteSecurity #SecureByDesign #CraneCurrency

  • This Earth Day, we recognize the importance of building a more sustainable future, where innovation and responsibility go hand in hand. At Crane Currency Malta, initiatives like our Condensate Recovery System (CRS) which dramatically reduces our need for fresh water, demonstrates how engineering insights and a passion for continuous improvement combine to turn everyday processes into more sustainable solutions. An initiative led by Paul Fenech and his Engineering Team, the CRS follows this team’s awarding-winning photovoltaic installation situated atop our flagship Malta facility. It’s one example of how we continue to reduce our environmental impact through smarter use of materials, energy, and technology across our operations. #EarthDay #Sustainability #CraneCurrency #ResponsibleInnovation
