Contech Engineered Solutions reposted this
Stormwater management is often one of the earliest and most consequential feasibility questions a development project must address. In the case of The Berg multifamily development in Milton, an above-ground detention pond wasn’t an option due to our tight site, so we installed a Contech Engineered Solutions underground stormwater detention system recommended by our excavator and civil engineer. This solution preserves valuable surface area for resident parking, helping make the site more functional and efficient. Additionally, by capturing and infiltrating stormwater underground, the system helps reduce runoff, respecting neighboring properties, and supports the overall health of the watershed. In the end, both we as the general contractor and the developer are proud to be a good neighbor, temporarily detaining and slowing down water leaving the site before it enters the public utility system. #CivilEngineering #ContechES #StormwaterManagement #DesignBuild

Civil engineers attending the 2026 Ohio Stormwater Conference in Sandusky, Ohio: stop by and see Contech at booth 320/322. We’d welcome the opportunity to connect. Also, Regional Regulatory Manager Chris Allen will be presenting on Thursday at 1:45 on Clearing the Waters: Demystifying SCM Performance Reports for Regulatory Compliance, and our team will be there to discuss stormwater solutions for detention, infiltration, treatment, biofiltration, and regulatory compliance. See you May 6–8 at Kalahari Resort and Conference Center. https://hubs.ly/Q04f7B3z0 #OhioStormwaterConference #StormwaterManagement #CivilEngineering #StormwaterDesign #Infrastructure

Underground detention performance depends on more than storage volume. For civil engineers, inlet and outlet design can impact hydraulics, maintenance access, drawdown, and long-term system reliability. This article covers key considerations for designing effective stormwater detention inlets and outlets. What if your next sales role wasn’t about pushing products—but solving real-world problems that shape communities? We’re looking for a consultative Sales Engineer to join our Stormwater team. If you thrive at the intersection of engineering insight and relationship-building and are energized by complex challenges, technical conversations, and the chance to make a visible impact from blueprint to build, you might be exactly who we’re looking for. You won’t just respond to demand—you’ll help define smarter, more sustainable solutions for managing water where it matters most.

At Gallagher Square in PetCo Park, stormwater treatment required an engineered solution capable of handling a highly trafficked public area with sloping site geometry. See how Contech’s Modular Wetlands System came through in the clutch. https://hubs.ly/Q04d22p50 #Stormwater #CivilEngineering #ContechES #WaterQuality #StormwaterManagement

Look at this transformation in water clarity — from highly turbid to visibly clear. That is stormwater management at its best. Contech's Filterra Bioscape technology, delivered by Contech partners Stormwater 360 New Zealand, was part of this solution. Together, we are doing meaningful work.
Our abstract for the 2026 NZ Water Stormwater Conference was rejected. That genuinely surprised us — because this project represents some of the most impactful stormwater work we’ve been involved in. This includes some "first of a kind" solutions implementation in New Zealand. So instead of presenting it at a conference, we’re sharing the story here. Over the past couple of years, our team at SCO Consulting has had the privilege of working alongside Hastings District Council, Tonkin + Taylor, and Stormwater360 on the Omahu Road Industrial Corridor — a complex, high-risk stormwater catchment where traditional approaches simply weren’t going to cut it. Together, we delivered a fully integrated, multi-barrier stormwater treatment system — combining source control, first flush capture, roadway pre-treatment, and end-of-pipe biofiltration. The goal was simple in principle, but challenging in practice: meaningfully reduce contaminant loads from a highly industrialised catchment into a sensitive receiving environment. Perhaps one of the most challenging aspects was retrofitting highly effective stormwater treatment solutions into a highly developed area - with very little room to work in. The results so far have been nothing short of remarkable: • Significant reductions in sediments, metals, PAHs and bacteria • Capture of highly contaminated fine sediments at source • A dramatic transformation in water clarity at Lowes Pit — from highly turbid to visibly clear This project is a testament to what can be achieved when there is strong vision, collaboration, and a willingness to tackle complexity head-on. Hastings District Council deserves real recognition here — they are genuinely leading in how they are thinking about and addressing challenges across all three waters, particularly in high-risk environments like the Omahu Industrial Corridor. I can honestly say that HDC are one of our favorite clients to work for - as they truly understand the meaning of collaboration and team work, and are highly focused on exceptional community outcomes. While we won’t be presenting this work at the conference, we’re more motivated than ever to share what we’ve learned. If you’re working in stormwater, infrastructure, or environmental management — and facing similar challenges in high-risk catchments — we’d be more than happy to connect and share insights from this project in more detail.
