About us
At ComEd, we believe in being an energy partner, not just an energy provider. Being a provider means we deliver electricity to over 4 million customers across northern Illinois, which accounts for about 70 percent of the state’s population. We do so safely and reliably because we are driven by the innovation that comes from the industry expertise our employees offer. And we're committed to pursuing best-in-class performance so that our customers receive the quality service they expect and deserve. We have championed investments in technology that help shorten outages and make them less frequent, and those investments empower our customers to make smart choices about energy usage. Being a partner means we also help our customers discover new ways to save money on electric bills, while also showing how they can help the environment by decreasing their carbon footprint. We also support a range of initiatives that make a difference in people’s lives. Our commitment focuses on education, environment, arts and culture, and community development. At ComEd, #PoweringLives isn’t just a motto. It is the driving force behind everything we do. Learn more about ComEd anytime at www.ComEd.com.

We’re energized to share that our Power Up Academy has earned Program of the Year from the National Association of Workforce Development Professionals (NAWDP). Since 2019, hundreds of graduates have gone through the program, which removes traditional barriers, such as requiring a four-year college degree, by offering hands-on technical training and direct career placement. “Power Up Academy isn’t just a training program, it’s a talent engine,” said Laticia Holbert, our senior manager of Workforce Development. “We are building the future block by block, skill by skill, right in the communities we serve.” We’d like to thank NAWDP for recognizing our work to equip the future workforce for success, and Revolution Workshop, our ongoing partner, whose commitment and support make this impact possible. Learn more about Power Up Academy and all of our career training opportunities at ComEd.com/Training.

Sweet savings, long‑term impact! This morning, we visited Ferrero’s Franklin Park facility to celebrate energy‑savings and sustainability milestones. Through the ComEd Energy Efficiency (EE) Program, Ferrero has saved $777,000 annually on energy bills and 8.5 million kWh of electricity. That’s equivalent to: 🌳 Planting 2,800 acres of trees 🚗 Removing 680 gas‑powered cars from the road These savings were made possible through the ComEd EE Program’s Strategic Energy Management (SEM) offering for commercial customers. SEM provides a free assessment of facility equipment and operations to identify energy‑saving opportunities, followed by employee training to embed smart energy practices into day‑to‑day operations. As a result of the annual PJM Interconnection capacity auction held last year, ComEd customers can expect a higher supply charge and an increase in their average monthly bill beginning June 1. Since 2022, capacity charges have risen steadily, increasing by about $12 per month for the average residential customer. Capacity charges, which ComEd does not control, are passed directly to customers with no profit or mark up. As summer begins, rising energy demand and a limited supply of available generation continue to drive higher wholesale energy prices. We’re taking proactive steps to support customers by expanding bill assistance programs and accelerating energy efficiency offerings.
