Big news for Wauwatosa! After years of community feedback, we are nearing a decision on the future of our Library and City Hall building. While our last major renovation was back in 1992, parts of our building’s infrastructure are completely original (1957) and have officially reached the end of their lifespan. To bring you a safer, more accessible, and modernized space, an update is needed. What’s on the library wish list so far based on community feedback? More flexible meeting spaces A larger storytime room A dedicated teen/young adult space Crucial accessibility upgrades What’s next? By late July 2026, the Common Council will review the concepts to give direction on a final plan. How is it funded? This project will be funded through the city’s capital budget and a private library fundraising campaign. There will not be a referendum. We need your eyes on this! Check out the estimated prices, view the design concepts, and share your thoughts. Head to our project page to take the survey and see the plans: https://lnkd.in/gX9wzZ-5

Engineering + Public Works in action, making Wauwatosa's streets safer. Our vision is to have zero fatalities or serious injuries due to traffic crashes. This is one type of strategy we're using to meet that goal.
Take a look at these delineators narrowing the school crossing at Glenview & Portland! This inexpensive, interim installation is improving safety at the intersection while we finish plans to reconstruct the street. The curb extensions minimize opportunities for people in cars to perform a right-hand slide - a maneuver that threatens people on foot. Kudos to Wauwatosa DPW crews for the installation. This is our first installation with this product for this purpose. #TeamTosa #VisionZero

An incredible story behind one of the benches designed by a local artist at Firefly Grove Park:
Public art tells the story of a place — and sometimes, of the people who shaped it. One of the commissioned art benches in Firefly Grove Park, “Forever Wauwatosa,” was created by artist Gerald Williamson (MOOLAH BRED ART STUDIO) and carries deep historical meaning. The piece honors his great uncle, Zeddie Hyler, the first African American homeowner in Wauwatosa, while celebrating the resilience, creativity, and evolving spirit of our community. Firefly Grove Park is home to several artist-designed benches, each adding character and conversation to one of our newest public spaces. Together, they reflect how art can live in everyday moments — not just in galleries, but in parks, along pathways, and in gathering places. We invite you to stop by, take a seat, and experience the stories woven into Wauwatosa’s landscape.
