Our Adult Transition Program (ATP) took the polar plunge at Saint Xavier University! Participants included ATP students and staff, Mount Sion Program students and mentors from Brother Rice High School, graduate students from Saint Xavier's Communication Sciences and Disorders program, and clients from the Ludden Speech and Hearing Clinic. Learning about construction! Students who are in our Windows of Opportunity (WOO) Academy program recently visited UJAMAA Construction and heard from leadership, including President & CEO Jimmy Akintonde. Pepper Construction Group representatives such as President Scot Pepper were also there! The March 13 visit included a question-and-answer session and a tour of the facility's headquarters in Chicago. WOO students shared souvenirs made by our Adult Transition Program (ATP) students and got valuable insight about the trades! Our college tours continue! Students who are part of our Windows of Opportunity (WOO) Academy program recently visited City Colleges of Chicago-Malcolm X College and heard from City Colleges of Chicago Chancellor Dr. Juan Salgado and Director of Community Outreach & Engagement Nathaniel Ward. Both men are Eisenhower graduates! The March 6 visit included a question-and-answer session and tour of the college. Students learned about health sciences such as nursing and went into the Fitness Center for a brief workout! Congratulations to Dr. Mike Jacobson, Executive Director of Student, Family & Community Engagement, for winning the Outstanding Performing Arts Educator Award from the National Federation of State High School Associations! Our school board honored him with a commendation last night. He won the national award on Feb. 19. Jacobson has devoted more than three decades to advancing theatre and speech education in Illinois. His accolades include multiple Coach of the Year honors, Distinguished Educator Awards, and recognition as Principal of the Year by the Illinois Directors of Student Activities. #chsd218

We love connecting with our partner schools! Principals from the public elementary school districts that feed into Community High School District 218 met with our administrators last week to discuss articulation, the process that helps ensure students are prepared for high school. #chsd218

Thanks to everyone who attended our job fair! We hosted employers in fields such as education, law enforcement, manufacturing and government on Saturday in our Administrative Center. Dozens of interested job seekers were there! We hope all our attendees made great connections! #chsd218
