In honor of World Tuna Day, we are excited to announce that all Chicken of the Sea retail tuna products will achieve Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) certification by the end of 2026. This milestone makes us the first of the big three mainstream U.S. tuna brands to achieve 100% MSC certification across its entire retail portfolio. The MSC Certification confirms that tuna in every product has been sourced from fisheries that demonstrate: - Environmentally sustainable fishing practices from healthy tuna populations - Minimized environmental and ecosystem impacts - Effective fishery management practices "This certification is not a marketing label. It is proof of responsibility. By the end of the year, every retail size can and pouch that we pack will carry the assurance that our tuna comes from an environmentally sustainable fishery and supports healthy oceans. We're grateful to the Marine Stewardship Council for their rigorous standards and partnership in making this vision possible.” - Andy Mecs, President of Chicken of the Sea

Chicken of the Sea reposted this
Each Earth Day is a reminder that protecting ocean ecosystems takes real, practical action and collective effort. Today, Thai Union, including our U.S. companies Chicken of the Sea and Chicken of the Sea Frozen Foods, is announcing that it’s joined the Protecting Blue Whales and Blue Skies Program to support more responsible shipping practices in North America. Along the U.S. West Coast, some of the world’s busiest shipping lanes overlap directly with critical habitats for endangered whales. Ship strikes are one of the most significant threats facing whales and other marine life, while also contributing to air pollution and underwater noise that can disrupt ocean ecosystems. Through vessel speed reduction in high‑risk areas, the program helps: 🐋 Reduce the risk of ship strikes affecting endangered whale species. 🌫️ Lower air emissions associated with shipping activity. 🔊 Decrease underwater noise that can interfere with how marine life communicates and navigates. As a global seafood company with complex supply chains, partnerships like this reflect Thai Union’s wider commitment to supporting responsible ocean shipping, protecting at‑risk marine life, and reducing environmental impacts linked to global trade. This partnership is one example of how targeted, collaborative action can help protect marine life and support healthier oceans every day. #EarthDay #ThaiUnion #Sustainability #HealthyLivingHealthyOceans #BlueWhalesAndBlueSkies

Happy Earth Day! We’re spotlighting our partnership with the Pittsburgh Zoo & Aquarium, a collaboration that highlights the goals of our SeaChange® 2030 sustainability program. Together, we’re working towards a healthier planet and a more sustainable future. When you visit the Zoo, you can stop by and view Fiona, our life-sized leatherback sea turtle sculpture created by U.K. artist Katrina Slack. Fiona is made entirely from ghost gear, which is abandoned or discarded fishing equipment, and serves as a powerful symbol of the impact ghost gear has on marine life and the importance of using traceable, tagged fishing equipment. You can further reduce your footprint during E-Cycle Week at the Zoo: bring a cell phone or tablet to recycle now through Friday, April 24th and take $5 off your admission. Plus, learn more about taking action, grab some giveaways, and enjoy activities during the Zoo’s Party for the Planet on Saturday, April 25th. Spend Earth Day with Fiona in the Aquarium at the Pittsburgh Zoo and join us in protecting our Earth, today and every day! #EarthDay

As SeaChange® enters its 10th year, our parent company is proud to announce a groundbreaking commitment! 50% of the tuna sourced from long-distance fishing vessels will have Wi-Fi access by the end of 2026, and 75% by 2028. This initiative addresses a critical aspect of fisher welfare and is a demonstration of our core beliefs that securing quality seafood begins with valuing and supporting the people who bring it to our plates. Here's why Wi-Fi accessibility matters: 🌊 Improves connection with loved ones 🌊 Allows access to essential information 🌊 Encourages worker empowerment, industry transparency, and a healthier future for families and communities
