We did a job here in beautiful Staten Island that I wanted to brag about. Under the guidance and specifications of Ventrop Engineering Consulting Group, PLLC, we removed three large FLW type steel boilers that were showing obvious signs of end of life damage. We were able to accomplish this without the use of a mobile trailer keeping two boilers operating at a time. We installed three Best Boilers Inc 5E-300 steam boilers fitted with three Industrial Combustion DMG-145 burners with Siemens LMV52 Parallel Positioning System which we purchased from Wymbs Inc. This system allows us to set up and control multiple points along the firing rate along with a VFD for the blower motor. We then took the room and transformed it into something you are happy to be in with new paint, and lots of lights (our techs need to wear sunglasses when performing annual overhauls LOL). The super is a retired Navy man and once we were complete was surprised at the transformation. Take a look at the pics! This was fun little Hybrid Heat Pump Domestic Hot Water Project. For this project, we installed an LG Electronics North America Heat Pump, LG Electronics North America Hydrokit, Thermo 2000 Inc. TurboMax indirect water heater, Heat-Timer® Corp ETV Platinum Plus domestic hot water mixing valve, a three way valve, GRUNDFOS circulator and expansion tank. This system is unique in that our friends at Klima New York, LLC had LG develop a controller that will operate the three way valve to switch between the boiler coil during high demand and the Heat Pump during normal and low demand. This allows the customer to reduce their carbon footprint by only operating the boiler for about 20% of the time to produce hot water and allowing zero carbon emissions for about 80% of the time. This project was done in partnership with Steven Winter Associates. This is a great step towards decarbonization where full electrification is not a feasible option. Every year Metlife Stadium (NY Giants, NY Jets, and this year FIFA) tears down and cleans their Domestic Hot Water heaters. Fortunately for Champion Combustion Corp. we have been part of this endeavor for a few years now. We go in, pull the heat exchangers, their plumbers drain and fill the heaters, and they have their chemical company put cleansing chemicals to clean the interior of the units. We are always excited to be a part of preventive maintenance whether it is for water heaters, boilers, steam systems, hydronic systems, etc...
