Choosing Memory Care for a family member is a meaningful decision. One daughter shared how moving her mom into Cedarhurst of Blue Springs brought a sense of relief, knowing she is surrounded by people who genuinely care and treat her with kindness. The peace of mind that followed made a lasting difference, and it’s a step she wishes had been taken sooner. “I just don’t want people to forget.” - Nate At 102, Cedarhurst resident Nate chose to share his story with quiet purpose. A World War II veteran who served during the Battle of the Bulge, he carried these memories for decades before deciding to share his story. At Cedarhurst of Lawrence, a space he calls “his shack,” Nate continues to build by hand, working at a table he designed himself. Pieces of handcrafted aircraft sit nearby, including an orange plane his son once test flew. His story is one of service and a reminder that history lives through those who choose to share it. Today is National Nurses Day, and it’s a moment to recognize the care that lives within Cedarhurst. Residents like Barbara spent decades in healthcare, later continuing to volunteer at a local hospital well into her 90s. What started as a career became something deeper, a lasting commitment to showing up for others. Nancy followed a similar path, with years dedicated to nursing and caring for patients through every stage of life. That dedication left a lasting mark, and today, her legacy is honored in a space created to reflect the same sense of care she brought to others. To anyone who has served as a nurse, and those who continue that work today, thank you for the care you bring each day. 💙
