This week for Preservation Month, we’re recognizing some of the Campo team members who put care, precision, and dedication into keeping historic gems alive. Captured during field site visits, these photos show real moments of the work that it takes to preserve what is there, honor what was, and protect historic buildings for what may come next. Only a handful are pictured, but their efforts represent the everyday commitment behind Campo’s preservation work.

Thank you to Hospitality Design | HD Expo and Emerald for hosting another great HD Expo in Las Vegas. ✨ Our team returned with new product discoveries, design ideas, and valuable connections from across the industry. Miriam Salas, AIA, LEED AP and Rylee Laborde participated in the Hosted Buyer Program, and Mary Gilmore participated in a panel discussing smarter hotel renovations. Until next year, Las Vegas. 🎲

This Preservation Month, we take a look back at just a few of the many historic properties we’ve had the honor of helping preserve, restore, and reimagine. Each project tells a story of craftsmanship, community, and the people who built them to those who work to preserve them today. The National Trust for Historic Preservation’s theme this year is, “All People Are Created Equal,” reminds us that preservation is about more than restoring buildings. It’s about honoring the many hands, voices, and stories that make these places worth saving.

Our team is looking forward to connecting with industry peers, exploring new ideas, and being inspired by the future of hospitality design. Miriam Salas, AIA, LEED AP, Mary Gilmore, and Rylee Laborde will be attending. They look forward to seeing you there!

We are proud to be part of this exciting milestone and to celebrate the start of AC Hotels by Marriott at 351 Calliope Street. We are grateful to collaborate with such a strong team of partners and look forward to seeing this project take shape in New Orleans.
Yes... it’s 3 minutes. (And yes, we heard the same thing about Fondren.) But when you’re capturing the start of something this meaningful, 60 seconds doesn’t quite cut it. 🤩 Breaking ground on this AC Hotels by Marriott in the great city of New Orleans marks more than a moment on site. It represents months of planning, strong partnerships, and a shared belief in what this project will become — not just for our team, but for New Orleans and the surrounding community. From early vision to shovels in the ground, this is where momentum becomes reality. We’re proud to be building alongside an incredible group of partners and bringing this project to life in a market that continues to grow and evolve. Special thanks to Billy Nungesser, Campo Architecture & Interior Design, David Aupeid with Marriott Hotels, Seth Knudsen and Downtown Development District of New Orleans, Courtney Stuckwisch Wong with Econmic Development at City of New Orleans, New Orleans Chamber of Commerce, Ken Chapman, and Adam Shapiro. New Orleans - this is just the beginning. 📍351 Calliope Street Additional thanks to Balloons.glo, Toulouse Gourmet Catering, Mrs. Galle with Flavor Creations Cookies, Carl Mack with Carl Mack Presents, Music and Lights Entertainment, Nola Party Rentals, and Daren Boykin for helping with traffic! #NewOrleans #Development #Celebrate #Louisiana #Groundbreaking

Happy Earth Day 🌎 Today we’re celebrating the power of adaptive reuse and the potential of spaces that already have a story to tell. These before-and-after images feature two projects: 📍 Bistecca restaurant in the newly imagined Hotel Ardent in downtown Dayton 📍 Electric Moon Skytop Lounge at the JW Marriott Savannah Plant Riverside District in Savannah Thoughtful design is not always about starting over. It is often about recognizing potential and building on what is already there. By reimagining existing spaces, we reduce waste, extend the life of buildings, and create new experiences through new design ♻️🏛️💡

Not all site visits look the same. Yesterday, John T. Campo, Jr. and Shelby Shankle's trip took a nostalgic turn thanks to our client, who gave them a tour in a beautifully preserved 1930s Model A Ford. Moments like these remind us that preservation is always worth the ride!

In case you missed it, last week our team celebrated the long-awaited groundbreaking of the AC Hotel Convention Center in New Orleans. This was a major milestone and an exciting moment for everyone involved. New hotel groundbreakings in New Orleans do not happen every day, which makes this project especially meaningful. While preservation is a passion of ours, we are also proud to be part of transformative new construction projects like this one. We look forward to sharing progress along the way and welcoming future visitors to what will be a great addition to the city.

🚀 We sat down with Miriam Salas, AIA, LEED AP at Campo Architecture & Interior Design to unpack what’s really happening in the New Orleans hotel market. What we found: opportunity hiding in plain sight.
