Last weekend, thanks to Ford Motor Company and Ford Philanthropy, several military families from the Blue Star Families Maryland Chapter attended the NASCAR All-Star Race at Dover Motor Speedway. Because supporting military families sometimes looks like shared experiences, family memories, opportunities to build community ... and this time, fast cars. 🏁 Military families spend a lot of time apart, and moments like these — to connect, make memories, and be together — help strengthen our All-Volunteer Force. Deployments impact entire families — including the parents supporting their service members from afar. In partnership with the American Red Cross, we're hosting a free Psychological First Aid workshop specifically for parents of deployed service members focused on emotional wellness, resilience, and community support during military life transitions. Military spouses often serve as the steady foundation for their families during deployments — managing uncertainty, supporting children, and carrying additional responsibilities at home. Over the weekend at the Library of Congress, Blue Star Families and The Walt Disney Company were proud to bring military children together through Blue Star Books. For military families, frequent moves and transitions can make it difficult for children to find consistency and connection. This weekend's event was the 25th and largest event where we've created spaces where military kids can connect, build community, and simply be kids. Through Blue Star Books, we’ve reached 775,000+ military children nationwide since 2011, delivering not just books — but moments of stability, connection, and joy. Supporting military families isn’t just the right thing to do — it’s essential to readiness. At our Military Spouse Appreciation celebration in NYC, one military spouse shared that after years of moving between duty stations, they had “never felt such a strong sense of community” as they do here with Blue Star Families present. That’s exactly why nights like this matter. Military spouses are among the most educated segments of the workforce — with 43% of spouses in this study holding advanced education degrees, compared to 14% nationally. Today, Blue Star Families, Navy Federal Credit Union, PenFed Credit Union, USAA, and the Institute for Veterans and Military Families - IVMF are coming together to share findings from a three-year military spouse employment study. For military families, summer often brings transition, separation, and change. Blue Star Museums helps families spend time together, explore their communities, and create shared experiences wherever military life takes them. That’s why we’re excited to officially launch the 2026 Blue Star Museums season tomorrow. We kicked off the season in Utah at the Hill Aerospace Museum alongside military leaders, installation leadership, government representatives, community partners, and more than 40 military families. From hands-on activities to scavenger hunts and interactive exhibits, the event highlighted the impact community partnerships can have for military-connected families. This summer, approximately 2,000 museums nationwide will offer FREE admission to active-duty service members, National Guard, Reserve, and their families through the Blue Star Museums program.
