Happy World Bee Day! 🐝 Which bee are you? Tell us in the comments below. Today we’re celebrating the incredible diversity of bees that help sustain ecosystems around the world. While honey bees may get most of the attention, they’re only one small part of a much bigger, weirder, fuzzier, shinier bee universe. In fact, there are roughly 20,000 different species of bees. From bumble bees and carpenter bees to sweat bees, mason bees, stingless bees, and solitary specialists, every type of bee plays a role in supporting healthy ecosystems. Some pollinate specific plants. Some thrive in cities. Some nest underground, in wood, or in pre-existing tunnels. Some live in highly social colonies, while others do their best work alone. So when we say “save the bees,” we mean all bees. Learn more about the species featured on our blog → https://lnkd.in/eTS38JS8 #WorldBeeDay #Pollinators #TypesofBees #BestBees

How are our ecosystems doing? We asked the bees. Our research team dove into every HoneyDNA sample taken since 2023, and noticed a striking trend – the average percentage of invasive plant species found in honey samples has increased. From 2024 onwards, invasive species were actually found at a higher percentage than native plants. HoneyDNA, the method of uncovering the floral contents of honey using pollen genomics, is one of many ways that Best Bees studies honey bees as a key indicator species – allowing us to monitor the local biodiversity of thousands of pollinator habitats. Today, we hosted The Best Bees Company, who manages our urban beehives, for a special honey tasting to officially launch our Earth Week programming! Tenants had the opportunity to sample honey harvested at different points throughout the year, learning how seasonality impacts flavor, color, and texture. Guests even got to take home their favorite varieties! We also are featuring some honey‑inspired drinks this week at our tenant‑exclusive café, all made using honey from our very own hives. Grateful to Best Bees for sharing their expertise and helping us celebrate sustainability, pollinator health, and local impact, one taste at a time 🌎💛

It starts in the hive... and extends far beyond it. 🐝 At Embarcadero Center, pollinator programs are designed to be shared. In partnership with BXP, Inc., on-site honeybees support urban biodiversity while creating opportunities for connection—through events, education, and moments that bring people closer to the natural systems around them. When sustainability is shared, every month is Earth Month. #Pollinators #Sustainability #TenantEngagement #CommunityEngagement #EmbarcaderoCenter #EC
