About us

As a member-owned, not-for-profit financial cooperative, BECU is guided by the credit union philosophy of “people helping people.” In fact, putting people over profit guides our everyday business decisions. Unlike many financial institutions, we aren’t owned privately. As a cooperative, we are owned by our members. This drives us to do right by the member, and right by each other as coworkers. You see this in our working culture, in our day-to-day choices to ensure both members’ and employees’ needs are met. Imagine what this type of commitment could do for your work satisfaction. Recruiting scam alert: Please be aware that bad actors are targeting potential job applicants and impersonating BECU recruiters on LinkedIn. You can protect yourself by inspecting the recruiter’s email address before responding to any unsolicited messages you receive about job opportunities. BECU recruiters do not use Gmail, Yahoo or any other non-enterprise email platforms for recruiting purposes. It is also important to know that BECU recruiters will never ask you for personal information like your Social Security number, date of birth or bank account number. Also, you will not be required to pay fees or cover the cost of equipment. Please visit becu.org/careers to learn more about the application process and apply through our secure portal.

What makes financial education actually stick? It's not just the content. It's who is leading the conversation. At BECU, our branch managers are getting hands-on training to build confidence, lead meaningful discussions and create space for people to ask real questions. That is turning into community impact through classes supported by partners like Opportunity Council and The Shades of Motherhood Network. When people feel comfortable, they are more likely to learn, ask questions and take action.

Big thanks to our Portland-area employees for showing up for With Love. For kids entering foster care, even the basics are not guaranteed. That is where With Love steps in, making sure families have what they need to welcome a child with care and intention. Clothing, supplies, everyday essentials. The kind of things that help a child feel more at ease in a moment that can feel anything but.

Celebrating ANHPI Heritage Month the best way possible: through food, culture, stories and connection. We came together to make mochi, sauces, and spice blends and left with so much more. Huge thanks to Christina Arokiasamy, founder of Culture Generation, for leading us with care, creativity and a deep love for preserving heritage through food. A fifth-generation descendant of spice merchants and former Food Ambassador of Malaysia to the U.S., Christina’s storytelling made every dish feel meaningful. Proof that food is never just food. It’s history, identity, and community.

It’s almost that time, Spokane 💜 The Spokane Lilac Festival Association is a grassroots, volunteer-led organization honoring military service, empowering youth and showcasing the Lilac City. As longtime supporters, the Armed Forces Torchlight Parade is a tradition many of our employees look forward to every year. Through our partnership, we’re also proud to support youth leadership by helping young participants build financial skills and confidence at pivotal moments in their lives. See you downtown Saturday, May 16, as the Lilac City lights up!

Long‑term impact comes from showing up, year after year. During Asian, Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, we are reflecting on what partnership really looks like. For more than 20 years, BECU has worked alongside Asian Counseling and Referral Service to support Asian American and Pacific Islander communities. Our ANHPI Employee Resource Group has helped carry that work forward through volunteering, fundraising and walking alongside the community at events like ACRS Walk for Rice. This month also marks the start of a new partnership with Culture Generation, a woman‑owned nonprofit supporting immigrant and refugee women food entrepreneurs across King County. Through food, culture and storytelling, they help small businesses grow while honoring the stories behind them. From food banks to cooking classes and community walks, these partnerships remind us that lasting impact is built through trust and consistency, not one‑off moments. Happy ANHPI Heritage Month.

Scenes from our Family Financial Fun Day! This spring, families gathered at our Tukwila Financial Center to learn about everyday money decisions through hands‑on games and conversations. From spotting scams to talking about saving, the focus was on making financial education feel practical, approachable and something families could do together. When money conversations feel less intimidating, confidence starts to grow. One conversation at a time. 👉 Want to keep learning?
