19 years of recognition don't happen by chance! Receiving the General Motors Supplier of the Year Award for the 19th time is a milestone we're proud of. The award highlights performance, collaboration, innovation, and execution across GM’s global operations. For us, it reflects the close relationship we have built over many years, and our shared focus on advancing vehicle quality, performance, and sustainability. As Uta Holzenkamp, President of BASF Coatings, put it: "BASF Coatings is proud to share our deep expertise in materials and coatings, and sustainability best practices in support of GM's vision to build safer, smarter vehicles." This recognition belongs to everyone who shows up for that collaboration, on both sides.

Together with Airbus and Lufthansa Technik, our riblet technology NovaFlex SharkSkin is now being assessed for application on the wings and tailplanes of the A330ceo. Certification and feasibility studies are currently underway, with the goal of unlocking additional efficiency potential for long-haul flights. NovaFlex SharkSkin is distributed by Chemetall and marketed by Lufthansa Technik as AeroSHARK, helping the aviation industry operate more efficiently and sustainably.
Next Level for #AeroSHARK: With the support of Airbus, we are working to develop the potential application of AeroSHARK riblet technology on the wings as well as the horizontal and vertical stabilizers of the Airbus A330ceo. ✈️ 🦈 The cooperation builds on the ongoing Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) program for AeroSHARK on the A330ceo fuselage and engine nacelles and extends the scope to additional aerodynamic surfaces. The objective is to assess the technical feasibility and certification requirements for these applications. We will lead the certification activities and hold the STC, while Airbus will support the program by providing relevant aircraft data and safety assessments. The certification effort will include evaluations related to flight dynamics, structural loads, lightning strike protection, maintenance aspects, and aircraft systems, including flight control and navigation. Subject to successful validation and approval by EASA, the solution is intended to be made available to the market. The wing and tailplane application is planned as a complementary step to existing AeroSHARK developments on the fuselage and engine nacelles, which are being developed separately by Lufthansa Technik and BASF Coatings. Extending the coverage to further aerodynamic surfaces is expected to offer additional efficiency potential for long-haul operations. “AeroSHARK has already demonstrated how powerful biomimetic surface technology can be in reducing fuel consumption and CO₂ emissions in commercial aviation”, said Andrew Muirhead, our Vice President OEM and Special Engineering Services. “As our goal is to support as many airlines as possible in achieving their sustainability targets, we are continuously evolving AeroSHARK – by certifying it for additional aircraft types such as the A330ceo and by expanding its application to even larger and more aerodynamically relevant surfaces.” #LufthansaTechnik #MROexperts #keepyouflying

Lowering CO₂ in production is not just an internal target. It directly impacts our customers’ products. We have just recently successfully completed our planned switch to electricity from renewable sources across our European production sites. For our customers this means a lower Product Carbon Footprint for our coating solutions and transparency when it comes to meeting climate and ESG targets. So they can move faster when it comes to bringing lower-CO₂ products to market. For us at BASF Coatings, energy sourcing is not a side topic. It’s a key driver of emissions along the value chain. Combined with further energy- and material-efficiency measures, we continue to reduce emissions across our global production network. AI-Projects rarely fail because of technology. They fail because priorities are unclear. That’s exactly where TONY comes in. The twist? TONY is AI. TONY supports teams right at the start of an AI-project -when clarity matters most. Instead of unstructured discussions or endless rounds of alignment, it guides teams through the right questions and turns challenges into clear, comparable use cases, priorities and a practical roadmap what to do next. TONY goes beyond chat: tailored to our internal Ai-use cases, it structures the intake as a guided interview and backs outputs with sources, so early decisions are faster and more reliable For teams, that means: less discussion, clearer priorities and faster alignment from day one. The result is simple: a structured way to move from a business challenge to a clear set of priorities and a shared understanding of what to do next. TONY doesn’t replace expert judgment, it standardizes the early discovery phase of AI-Use Cases so teams can decide with confidence. For our stakeholders, this means earlier clarity, fewer loops and faster progress in projects, especially where ambiguity would otherwise slow things down. Some roles are defined by stability, others by constant change - Caroline H. Cooper chose the latter. With more than two decades in coatings, she now leads Automotive Refinish Coatings across North America, operating in a space where customer expectations shift quickly, timelines are tight and decisions often can’t wait. “In the field, much of our day-to-day work is highly time sensitive.” From supporting customers waiting on product to aligning with distribution partners and teams across regions, her role requires balancing urgency with consistency, keeping the business moving while staying close to the people behind it. What drives her is not simplicity, but complexity. Discover how Caroline goes #BeyondTheSurface in our latest edition of Beyond SurFACES: https://lnkd.in/d6gVaSGm

What if sustainability in body shops could be measured with the same clarity as cost or performance? BASF Coatings’ Eco Impact Assessment tool has now been certified by TÜV Rheinland Group, confirming that its methodology meets internationally recognized standards for transparency and consistency. Integrated into Refinity, the tool enables body shops to calculate their corporate carbon footprint in line with the Greenhouse Gas Protocol, using real operational data. More importantly, it turns data into decisions. Body shops gain reliable insights to evaluate repair processes, guide investments, and identify opportunities to improve efficiency while reducing emissions. By covering energy use, processes, products, waste, and logistics, the Eco Impact Assessment makes sustainability measurable, comparable, and actionable in day to day operations. The certification also sends a clear signal to customers, insurers, and OEMs: sustainability can be managed based on consistent and credible data. Following successful adoption in Europe, access to the TÜV certified Eco Impact Assessment is now being expanded to further regions.
