  • This is what our mountains are for. We are proud to stand behind this work and the incredible community that makes moments like this possible. The National Disabled Veterans Winter Sports Clinic is a reminder of the deeper purpose our spaces hold.

  • We’re committed to increasing access to our mountains by supporting programs, partnerships and community efforts that ensure more people can experience the power of skiing and the outdoors. Aspen Snowmass hosted the Shining Stars Foundation’s Aspen Winter Games, welcoming more than 65 children undergoing cancer treatment to Buttermilk for a week of ski lessons, culminating in the Winter Games Race Day. Meanwhile, Challenge Aspen hosted a ski-a-thon to celebrate inclusion and raise funds for adaptive athletes in the Limitless Mountain Challenge. On March 21 at Snowmass, we will host the 4th annual Girls on Patrol, a hands-on day designed to inspire the next generation of women in mountain operations. The event is open to local girls in 6th grade and up, and participants will spend the day alongside Ski Patrol pulling sleds, practicing beacon searches, exploring snow science and safety, testing first aid skills, and meeting the patrol dogs. The program is free for up to 50 participants, with lift tickets and rentals available for anyone who needs them. Learn more and sign up here: https://lnkd.in/gbtAeFxt

  • Colorado has already lost 31 days of winter since 1980, which is more than a statistic, it’s a dire warning. As a recent The Denver Post feature highlights, the growing call for climate advocacy stretches much farther than just the ski industry. Aspen One SVP of Sustainability, Christopher Miller, makes it clear: operational sustainability isn’t enough. Systemic challenges demand systemic solutions. Protecting snowpack and the future of winter requires action at every level. Read the full article here: https://lnkd.in/g3V9Vv9J

  • We’re proud to support the public launch of the Aspen Elevation Institute through the Aspen U Speaker Series presented by Audi on February 17 at Limelight Aspen. Founded by U.S. Army veteran and Snowmass Ski Pro @Matt Zeller, the Institute is exploring how skiing and snowboarding paired with trauma-informed clinical care and peer connection can support healing for veterans living with PTSD and TBIs. This work strongly reflects our values of living fully and honoring both people and place.

  • Winter is changing, and so is the responsibility of those who depend on it. In this recent Skift article, our SVP of Sustainability, Christopher Miller, shares his perspective on addressing the root causes of climate change by reducing emissions and transitioning to clean energy—efforts that extend far beyond resort boundaries. Protecting the future of winter requires confronting the climate crisis head-on.

Aspen One, among the few U.S. ski companies with resorts that opened on time this winter, says snowmaking and glacier covers are only temporary defenses against years of record low snowfall. The real challenge, the company argues, is the climate crisis itself. Rapid global warming and higher temperatures are eroding the foundations of winter tourism, shortening ski seasons, reducing snow and making it less predictable. "Snowmaking isn’t the core issue; the energy being used is," said Chris Miller, senior vice president of sustainability at Aspen One. "We’re focused on tackling the root causes of climate change, not just adapting within resort boundaries." https://hubs.li/Q0417Rq20
