  • Anne Arundel County is embarking on a transformative initiative to integrate our Police and Fire public safety answering points (PSAPs) under a single, unified Emergency Communications Center (ECC) within the Office of Emergency Management. To lead this initiative, we need a visionary leader in emergency communications ready to shape the future of public safety. Anne Arundel County is seeking an experienced Deputy Emergency Communications Director to join our Office of Emergency Management (OEM) team. The Deputy Director will be instrumental in providing strategic vision, policy direction, and operational oversight for this multi-discipline ECC. We're looking for a change management expert who can drive the implementation of strategic initiatives, technological advancements, and personnel management, while fostering a culture of teamwork and excellence.   • We would like to congratulate our Training and Exercise Planner, Cassandra Laningham, for being named a 2025 Safety All Star! She received this recognition from the Anne Arundel County Risk Management Division for her continued work on updating and testing the Office of Emergency Management's Emergency Action Plan. By improving signage to be more inclusive to conducting fire drills, Cassandra has made OEM a safer place.

  • This week, some of our staff had the incredible opportunity to attend the Maryland Emergency Management Association (MDEMA) Symposium. Throughout the week, we attended workshops and presentations to share innovative strategies, trends, and best practices in the emergency management field. The highlight of the week was celebrating the outstanding achievements of our our staff: Joseph Seborowski was nominated for Emergency Manager of the Year, Alex Sperling for his nomination for Emergency Management Rookie of the Year, and also Kasey Thomas, who was nominated and awarded the Ed McDonough Excellence in PIO Award for her achievements as PIO while with the Anne Arundel County Office of Emergency Management.
