System Center Configuration Manager 2007 Service Pack 1 systems ignore the source location property in MSI packages

Consider the following scenario:

• Some MSI packages are distributed to clients in System Center Configuration Manager 2007 Service Pack 1 (SP1) systems. These packages are installed by non-admin user accounts on clients.
• Updates of these applications are distributed to clients after these applications are installed. For example, some MST files are distributed. These updates contain new source location information.

In this scenario, the new source location information is missing after these updates are distributed to client computers.

Note This problem occurs after System Center Configuration Manager 2007 SP1 is installed.

To apply this hotfix, you must have System Center Configuration Manager 2007 Service Pack 1 installed on the computer.

Note This hotfix must be installed to System Center Configuration Manager 2007 SP1 site servers. Then, distribute this package to all client computers. This hotfix package applies for client computers.

Restart Requirement

You do not have to restart the computer after you apply this hotfix.

The dates and times for these files are listed in Coordinated Universal Time (UTC). When you view the file information, it is converted to local time. After you install this hotfix, you have to create the following registry subkey to make sure that the new solution location information is distributed successfully:

Name: MSIExecuteOnly
Type: REG_DWORD
Value: Any value in the DWORD data range.

Note This registry key has to be created on the client computers. This hotfix is not concerned with the value of MSIExecuteOnly. It only checks whether this item exists or not.
