SYMPTOMS

After you upgrade a server from Windows Server 2003 to Windows Server 2008, the SQL Server 2008 Integration Services (SSIS) performance counter is no longer available in the Performance Monitor.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, restore the SSIS performance counter, and then manually repair SQL Server 2008.

To restore the SSIS performance counter, repair the Microsoft SQL Server 2008 installation. To do this, follow these steps:
  1. Use the SQL Server 2008 installation media to start the SQL Server Setup program. After the Setup program verifies the prerequisites and the system, the Setup program displays the SQL Server Installation Center page.
  2. In the navigation pane, click Maintenance, and then click Repair.
To manually repair SQL Server 2008, follow these steps:
  1. At a command prompt, type CD %ProgramFiles%\Microsoft SQL Server\100\Setup Bootstrap\Release, and then press ENTER.
  2. Type setup.exe /ACTION=/proxy/https/web.archive.org/web/20111112202346/http:/support.microsoft.com:80/kb/repair%3C/span>, and then press ENTER.
