Last night, we were incredibly proud to celebrate our owner of Monkey Puzzle Harrow and Chesham Jenine Benning, being named a finalist in the 2026 EWiF (Encouraging Women into Franchising) Awards for Woman Franchisee of the Year ✨👏 The EWiF Awards recognise and celebrate the achievements of women across the franchising industry, highlighting exceptional leadership, business growth, community impact and innovation across the UK franchise sector. Jenine was recognised for her outstanding work across Monkey Puzzle Chesham and Monkey Puzzle Harrow, particularly for the remarkable turnaround of Monkey Puzzle Chesham. Over the past year, she has led the nursery through significant transformation. Rebuilding teams, restoring parent confidence, improving operational standards and creating a positive culture for both staff and families. These changes delivered exceptional results, with Chesham moving from loss-making to profitable within 7–8 months and occupancy increasing from 37% in spring 2024 to 59% by January 2026. Alongside driving business growth, Jenine has remained passionate about supporting families, developing teams and contributing positively to both the local community and the wider franchise network. Being named a finalist is an incredible achievement and a true reflection of the resilience, dedication and leadership Jenine brings every day. Some of the team attended GRO Retail 2026 on Tuesday, enjoying a busy day of networking and insightful talks. A highlight was Jessie Haggerty's first time speaking at the event, where she delivered a brilliant presentation on Monkey Puzzle’s property requirements and growth ambitions. The format provided a great platform to connect with landlords, agents and industry professionals, and share our approach to repurposing retail space for high-quality nursery settings. The day finished with a great tea workshop, an ideal way to wrap things up. Why our new Creative Directors are all under the age of five!🎨 At Monkey Puzzle Day Nurseries, we’ve always believed that children should be at the heart of everything we do. This spring, we’re taking that literally. We are incredibly proud to have launched our ‘Children as Creators’ campaign this month. Moving away from traditional marketing, we’ve replaced the "Creative Director" with our very own in-house artists, the children at our settings. What makes this special? 🖼️ Real Art: From our specially designed logo to in-setting exhibition walls, we’re showcasing the beauty of early "mark making." 👀 New Perspectives: Our ‘Through Their Eyes’ videos capture nursery life from a child’s-point-of-view. 📚 Making EYFS Simple: We’re turning "technical" learning into relatable stories about confidence, literacy, and joy. As our Managing Director, Grace Cole, states: "By sharing real, everyday moments from the children themselves, we’re able to show how learning happens in a way that feels genuine and relatable."
