The project in Mississauga and Brampton, just west of Toronto, is moving full-speed ahead with a new Alliance delivery model. Hitachi is delivering critical systems for the project, including signaling, communications, traction power, and operations support systems, helping enable efficient and reliable light rail operations. Hitachi Rail will contribute to the development of the signalling and telecommunications systems for the new Saltillo–Nuevo Laredo passenger rail line in Mexico. 🚅 This new line is part of the Mexican Government’s ambitious program to reactivate and expand passenger rail transport across the country. Covering approximately 396 km, it will connect Derramadero (Saltillo), Monterrey, and Nuevo Laredo, transforming the way people move and contributing to economic and social development. Hitachi Rail has been active in Mexico for 55 years, delivering key mobility projects such as the Mexico City Metro, the Suburban Train, the Mexico–Toluca Interurban “El Insurgente”, and multiple ticketing systems. 🚀 Together with GVB, Hitachi Rail is piloting a new hands-free way to open ticketing gates using Ultra- Wideband (UWB) technology.  At Amsterdam Central Station, a small-scale proof of concept is now live, showing how passengers could walk through the gates without taking out a card or phone. Just approach… and the gate opens automatically! 🤖 This pilot explores how UWB’s high precision positioning can make station access faster, smoother and more intuitive, especially during peak hours. It’s also an opportunity to evaluate how this technology integrates with existing ticketing systems and how it could enhance accessibility for all passengers.
