This week we tracked the stampede of SSA issuers piling into the dollar market as new issue premiums collapse to nothing. We asked just how much tighter SSA spreads to US Treasuries can go. https://lnkd.in/e7BR53wE In euros, KfW became one of the first SSAs to bring a second 10 year benchmark to the market this year. Jörg Graupner told us why the tenor suited investors and how establishing fair value had been straightforward given KfW’s reliable curve. Graupner confirmed there had been less participation from trading accounts, including hedge funds this time, compared to January’s transaction. https://lnkd.in/eE4C4bMk The Central Bank of Iceland’s Haukur C. Benediktsson told us the size of orders for its bond offering had been unexpected. Esther Finnbogadottir, from Iceland's Ministry of Finance said receiving orders from Asia and the Middle East for the first time had been a pleasant surprise. She outlined the sovereign’s plans to become a more frequent issuer in euros and signalled some likely tenors on the curve.  https://lnkd.in/exYvz5nw Manuel Valdez, CFA at CAF -banco de desarrollo de América Latina y el Caribe- unpacked the issuer’s popular euro green bond that helped the development bank’s spreads compress against its triple-A peers. He also disclosed the issuer had been receiving — and putting off — requests from investors to tap euro bonds since last summer. https://lnkd.in/eAXD9hkZ Lari Toppinen at Kuntarahoitus – MuniFin talked timing as the Finnish agency ventured into a busy dollar primary market. Despite competing supply from other issuers, the depth of demand gave room to push the spread to its final level. Toppinen indicated whether MuniFin is likely to return to the market before summer, and which currencies are still open. https://lnkd.in/eHbDdF5z Tobias Landström said Kommuninvest had kept its options open on currency until shortly before this week’s bond launch and explained why the Finnish agency opted for euros over dollars. Hedge funds were welcomed, though subject to tiering first by banks.
