Great discussions and networking opportunities at last week’s IAKS UK & Ireland event in Glasgow. Insights from Glasgow Life and their community‑first approach to developing sports venues were a central theme of the day, aligned with how we think about long‑term value in sports and leisure design at FaulknerBrowns Peter Harber’s research (The Sports Consultancy) into the social value of sports events and facilities highlighted the meaningful contribution these assets can make when we look beyond the bottom line. A brilliant event with valuable lessons for anyone shaping the future of community and event infrastructure.

Huge congratulations, Alex Knowles! A fantastic achievement.
Such an honour to receive the The Royal Society of Ulster Architects Rising Star Award. Huge thanks to the RSUA for organising such an incredible event at the Ulster Hall and to the judges. As I mentioned on the night the importance of celebrating and promoting the work of early career architects is key to the success of the industry. They aren’t just the future of the profession; they’re its present. They’re shaping the way practices operate, challenging old systems, and demanding a more sustainable, inclusive, and responsive built environment. Big thanks to the team from FaulknerBrowns for coming along to support me. Congratulations to all the other winners and those shortlisted.

We're excited to finally be able to share with you the film taken at London's City Hall for the climax of the Future Palace Programme. Funded by our #JustTransition fund, Beyond The Box CIC ran this design-led programme for youngsters from the five boroughs surrounding the Crystal Palace National Sports Centre project. Each of the participants were also paid the London Living Wage; learning, developing skills and earning all at the same time as having their voices really listened to. The film below is the culmination of four months' hard work for these ambitious youngsters, and what a location to present their ideas and prototypes! Thank you to everyone who supported the journey and made the programme such a success. This time last week we played in the second edition of the Built World Cup charity football tournament – and came home with the Pineapple Plate! Organised by ING Media and The Developer and Festival of Place, and sponsored by The Crowd and The Goodsyard, the event has raised more than £11,000 for Brave to Rebuild, a charity supporting reconstruction work in Ukraine. It was a pleasure to compete amongst the 24 teams from the built environment sector to support fundraising efforts. Congratulations to this year’s undefeated Champions – and collaborators on the Bishopsgate Goodsyard masterplan - Hammerson and Ballymore.
