Today we're sharing 9fin’s new values. When our co-founders Steven Hunter and Huss E. started 9fin in 2016, they wrote eleven values before the company had a name. Each one was a direct reaction to something they'd seen go wrong in their previous jobs in finance, and a promise to build 9fin differently. Nine years and 400 people later, those eleven have evolved into six. 👉 Swipe to see the final list, or head to this link to hear from Steven and Huss on what the new values mean, and why now was the right time to evolve them: https://lnkd.in/ee2PZsBM

Rooftop views and market views. 🥂☀️ We had a fantastic turnout for our start-of-summer leveraged finance networking drinks at Wagtail this Wednesday. It was a pleasure hosting so many buyside and sellside professionals to toast to the first half of the year. Beyond the great atmosphere, it was a valuable opportunity for our 9fin editorial and credit teams to chat through recent market moves, emerging trends, and what's on the radar for H2. Thank you to everyone who made it a memorable night. If we didn't get a chance to connect properly during the evening, please feel free to reach out directly!

Private credit is taking back ground from the BSL market. 114 private credit deals vs 112 BSL in Q1 26 — the first quarter since Q2 last year that private credit came out ahead. Deal count also hit a five-quarter high of 540, with median deal size climbing from $95m to $125m. The data, in full, is in 9fin's Q1 26 US Private Credit Data Review: https://lnkd.in/eZsexSXj

New technical blog post out from our Senior Backend Engineer, Taylor Mudd. At 9fin we work with highly sensitive data where permissioning rules change by client, deal and document. This blog post charts how the team built relationship-based access control on Postgres RLS, then migrated to OpenFGA once permission checks needed a dedicated engine. Just one of the knotty engineering challenges the team's working on. Check it out 👇 https://lnkd.in/eX7ukA2d

We asked Josie Shillito, our global head of private credit, what H1 development private credit professionals will wish they'd paid more attention to by September. Her answer: documentation 📄 "Some private credit agreements, particularly at the large-cap end of the spectrum, have in recent years converged with BSL documentation. Meanwhile, sponsors have increasingly had the power to erode lender rights. Given the global instability, secondary selldowns, and supply chain risk we're seeing, that's increasingly a liability for lenders of record." It's one of several sharp takes in our whitepaper on the state of private credit 2026 — download to see how we map those pressures at the halfway point, and where they're most likely to land in H2. A sneak peek at everything covered in this whitepaper below 👀 https://lnkd.in/ekpzuQi4

What happens when food and finance meet? It’s not necessarily flavor! 🥘 UK’s abundance of PE-backed restaurants have intersected with and might be undoing all of the gains of the Brits’ dramatically improved dining culture compared with years past. But for the credit investors bankrolling the incursion, it’s still as sweet as ever. 9fin committed itself to finding out the true extent of private equity’s influence in London’s cuisine. “We must first evaluate where we are today. And that means sampling the taste of leverage ourselves,” our VP of content Will Caiger-Smith declared one day in the office (presumably on an empty stomach). Dig in: https://lnkd.in/ez7SRnTv
