What happens when myopia control starts earlier…and works harder? At the 12-month mark, Prof. Chi-ho To shared results from a Phase III trial of MiYOSMART iQ and the findings are promising. In children aged 4 to 12, there was no myopia progression with MiYOSMART iQ, compared to 0.53 D myopia progression in the single-vision group. Axial elongation dropped from 0.35 mm with single-vison to just 0.075 mm with MiYOSMART iQ. But here’s the best part: this is the first time a spectacle lens has shown clinical efficacy as a standalone treatment in children as young as 4.  Earlier intervention. Stronger control. And maybe even a hint of reversal. New clinical trial results from HOYA Vision Care and The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, presented at Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology (ARVO) 2026, are setting a new benchmark in myopia control. In the first year of wear, MiYOSMART iQ spectacle lenses stopped clinically relevant myopia progression in 9 out of 10 children. Key highlights: • Children aged 4–12 years showed no myopia progression on average, with axial elongation below or comparable to non‑myopic eyes. • First‑ever evidence of D.I.M.S. Technology‑based myopia control efficacy in children as young as 4 years old.  • In children 7–12 years, MiYOSMART iQ achieved >100% average myopia control efficacy and a 94% reduction in axial elongation. These findings represent the highest myopia‑control efficacy reported to date with D.I.M.S. Technology‑based spectacle lenses. Hoya Vision Care shared the latest findings on its MiYOSMART spectacle lenses at the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology (ARVO) 2026 Annual Meeting. Clinical trial results from HOYA and The Hong Kong Polytechnic University demonstrated that a new myopia control spectacle lens design is able to halt clinically relevant myopia progression for nine out of 10 children over the first year of wear. The results represent the highest myopia-control efficacy results reported to date in children wearing Defocus Incorporated Multiple Segments (D.I.M.S.) Technology-based spectacle lenses.
