Updates

  • For many cancer survivors, going back to work marks a new phase that comes with its own set of physical and emotional challenges.   We’re proud of Jamin Jeow, one of our Return-To-Work clients, for bravely sharing his story in this CNA Voices piece. His experience reflects what many survivors face: navigating fatigue, rebuilding confidence, and adjusting to new realities in the workplace.   At Singapore Cancer Society, we recognise that returning to work is not a straightforward milestone, but a continued journey. If you need help, simply reach out to us at 1800-727-3333.   As more survivors re-enter the workforce, building understanding and supportive workplaces remains key.

  • We are proud to celebrate two members of the Singapore Cancer Society community —Jamin Jeow and Scott Lim—for receiving the Inspirational Patient Award at the 2026 Singapore Health Inspirational Patient & Caregiver Awards (IPCA) held last Tuesday. For Jamin, the award is a reminder that healing is never a journey taken alone: “It takes a community to restore a man.” Through his advocacy for cancer inclusivity, return-to-work support, and greater awareness of navigating health insurance claims, Jamin continues to pay his experience forward to others walking a similar path. For Scott, the recognition is shared with every patient and caregiver who continues to persevere each day: “I’m just an ordinary human being. So if I can do it, SO CAN YOU!” His story reflects the resilience, courage and hope that so many in the cancer community embody—even in the face of life’s toughest challenges. Organised annually by SingHealth, this year’s IPCA recognises 60 patients and caregivers across 19 healthcare institutions were recognised for their resilience, courage and hope. It is also a meaningful reminder to healthcare professionals, caregivers and advocates alike that beyond every diagnosis is a deeply human story, and that compassionate care, community support and patient advocacy can make a lasting difference in the lives of those navigating cancer. 💜

  • At Singapore Cancer Society, care is at the heart of what we do. For many of our people, that care begins at home. 💜 This Mother’s Day, our team shares personal reflections, both as children shaped by their mums and as mums navigating their own journeys. These stories reflect a quiet duality many working professionals hold, balancing responsibilities while showing empathy, resilience, and care in all that they do. These experiences shape how we support our community and one another as an organisation. Today, we celebrate these voices and the many forms of care they bring into every space. To all the mums out here, Happy Mother’s Day🌸

  • Cancer doesn’t wait till you’re old. That’s why the fight against the disease must begin with the young. 🌱 Gen C is Singapore Cancer Society's youth movement, to mobilise a generation of young people as advocates for cancer prevention. Through peer-led education, healthy lifestyle messaging, and awareness of early detection, we believe our youth will carry life-saving conversations into their schools, families, and communities. We are delighted to announce that World Gold Council is supporting Singapore Cancer Society in scaling Gen C. With their partnership, we strive to deepen our impact by: 🎯Reaching at least 5,000 individuals through physical and digital touchpoints. 🎯Training 100 youth advocates who will take cancer prevention conversations into their communities. • Returning to work after cancer is often viewed as a sign of recovery. In practice, it can present a new set of challenges. A Singapore Cancer Society study found that 88% of cancer survivors see returning to work as important to their recovery, yet nearly half feel anxious about doing so, including concerns about being treated differently. In this CNA commentary, our CEO Tan Kwang Cheak highlights that returning to work is not just an individual journey, but a shared responsibility between employees and employers. From flexible work arrangements to fostering open communication and trust, organisations play a key role in enabling a sustainable return to work. As more individuals continue working through or beyond cancer, building inclusive and supportive workplace environments will become increasingly important. • Over the past 10 years, Relay For Life has seen countless steps, laps, and stories of strength, loss, and hope. It has also brought together a community that refuses to give up.   For our community and partners, every moment carries a quiet promise: I’ll relay for you.   This year, 6,073 participants relayed through the night. Team participation increased by 84% from 2024, showing a strong and growing spirit of collective action. Teams came from corporate organisations, healthcare institutions, informal community networks, and Singapore Cancer Society’s survivor support groups.   Our heartfelt thanks to every supporter, partner, performer, and volunteer who made the night possible. Your dedication and spirit continue to drive our mission to minimise cancer and maximise lives.
