The most valuable office floor isn't the top one. It's the one open to the street. Mixed-use is no longer a feature in commercial real estate. It's a performance strategy. At 105 Victoria Street, the ground floor was a key part of the design from day one, not added at the end: 🔵 Independent retailers, not chains 🔵 Public space the local community can use 🔵 A feature cycle ramp built in Working with our customer, together we pushed the boundaries. Never saying yes to the easy answer. Take a walk through. #Innovation #MixedUse #UrbanDevelopment #Skanska

  • Check out these pictures of our latest upgrades at the Cotton Valley Water Recycling Centre.   Working as principal contractor in Anglian Water's @oneAlliance, we're replacing three Archimedean screw pumps with new, low-voltage 24 tonne pumps that will better manage water flows.   The project is the latest in a series of improvements over the past four years at the site in Milton Keynes, for the treatment of wastewater and management of stormwater surges.

You don’t see a lift like this every day… so why not take a look at these incredible photos from our screw pump installation at Cotton Valley Water Recycling Centre! Our teams are working hard out on site to modernise the inlet screw pumping station by replacing 3 ageing Archimedean screw pumps with new, low-voltage 24 tonne pumps fitted with variable speed drives. And this upgrade will allow the flows to be more precisely matched to the demand, which in turn helps to reduce energy consumption, minimise mechanical wear and enhance the sites performance during storm events. These improvements also go beyond the pumps, as this project also includes a range of mechanical, electrical and civil upgrades, from enhanced isolation systems to fully modernised LV electrical instrumentation and improved, safer access for our site teams. Together, these upgrades will help Anglian Water Services to protect the environment and ensure Cotton Valley WRC continues to support the growing Milton Keynes population for decades to come. #oneAlliance #AnglianWater #CottonValley

  • Life’s better when you have good neighbors, as Group CEO Anders discovered when he visited our 105 Victoria Street project together with Emma Foster from customer BGO, and learned about its community-friendly features. #Fieldwork #ShapingSustainablePlaces #OfficeDevelopment

One of the best ways to judge a building’s quality is to look at what it brings to the neighborhood. Does it make life better for the people who live and work around it? And is it generous with its facilities and spaces?   For our 105 Victoria Street project in London, developed together with the customer BGO, I’m proud to say the answer to both questions is yes. When I visited recently, I was impressed by features like a multi-purpose space that will be made available to schools and community organizations when it opens. There’s also urban green space where schools can run their gardening clubs. The 16-story, mixed-use building is also achieving impressive reductions in embodied carbon through measures like reusing steel props as rebar and using low-emission steel across the project. That’s good for not just the neighborhood but the planet too.

Cities are changing fast - and the way we plan, finance and develop urban spaces hasn’t kept pace Climate risks, demographic shifts, and new ways of living and working are reshaping what successful places need to deliver over time. This calls for a shift from short-term delivery to long-term value creation. In a new Skanska report - grounded in our experience across markets and informed by research and expert perspectives - we outline four actions that can help cities create lasting value for their people and their communities. At our breakfast seminar this week, we explored how we can collaborate more effectively to shape better cities – bringing together Skanska developers, policymakers, and the architect behind one of the projects featured in the report. If we want cities to thrive tomorrow, we need to build and develop differently today. Thanks to Jan Valeskog, Markus Dangré, Olof Philipson, Christofer Fjellner, Claes Larsson, Lena Hök & Sima Ghaemi Håkansson for joining the conversation. #ShapingSustainablePlaces #UrbanDevelopment Link to the report in comments ⬇️

  • Proud to be the principal contractor on this important AMP8 programme, working alongside our Alliance partners to deliver vital phosphorus removal schemes across the region. The Haddenham WRC project highlights how collaboration, innovation and sustainability, such as trialling 3D printed concrete, are helping improve local environments and protect ecosystems for the future.

Fancy playing a vital role in delivering 245 AMP8 phosphorus removal schemes, if so apply today at onealliance.info/jobs! Take Haddenham in Cambridgeshire, for example, where we’re highlighting the progress being made on our £3 million phosphorus removal scheme at the Water Recycling Centre. And to deliver this, we're installing a series of upgrades, including a new chemical dosing system, 185m³ sludge tank & an auto desludge system. Alongside this a new tertiary filtration unit with wet well and feed pumps, plus a new kiosk and associated pipework are also being delivered too. Alongside these upgrades, we’ve also been trialling innovative new 3D-printed concrete structures, helping us explore smarter, more sustainable ways to deliver future infrastructure across the Anglian Water region. Projects like this are vital in reducing phosphorus levels, which will help to improve the local environment & to protect local ecosystems for future generations to come! #oneAlliance #AnglianWater #Haddenham

👀📽️ Behind the scenes beneath London An inside look at how the 34 cross passages on HS2’s Northolt Tunnel were constructed using sprayed concrete lining and in some areas specialist ground freezing in challenging conditions deep below the capital. A superb achievement by all the teams involved👏! #HS2 #Tunnelling https://lnkd.in/eHgFGC3b
