We're seeking a Teacher of English to join our vibrant Senior School!


The post holder will be responsible for teaching English, at Key Stage 3, 4 and 5.

They work within the English department to ensure the effective and high quality delivery of the UK national curriculum to students aged between 11 and 18 including GCSE and A-Level. To support The BSA as a leading international school that is Forward Looking, Forward Thinking.


Core Responsibilities

  • Academic Excellence: Planning and delivering differentiated English lessons (Language and Literature) for all abilities, including EAL students. You will be responsible for exam preparation at GCSE and A-Level.
  • Innovation & Tech: Embedding educational technology into the curriculum and creating an "empowered" classroom environment that fosters a passion for the subject.
  • Pastoral & Community: Serving as a Form Tutor and delivering the PSHE programme. You are expected to lead specific English-related enrichment like debating, creative writing, or school publications.
  • Operational Duties: Managing departmental resources, tracking student data to set targets, and participating in the "wider life" of the school (duties, trips, and meetings).

Requirements

  • Education: Must have a recognized teaching qualification (PGCE/B.Ed).
  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years teaching the British Curriculum.
  • Skills: Expertise in English across all Key Stages (3–5), high ICT proficiency, and exceptional communication skills.
  • Traits: You need to be "good-humoured," resilient, and flexible enough to handle the shifting priorities of an international school environment.
  • Desirable: Experience teaching a second subject or working in a multicultural/international setting.

Key Logistics

  • Extra Hours: Occasional evening work for parents' nights and school events is required.
  • Flexibility: A "can-do" attitude is essential for taking on additional tasks as the school needs evolve.
