About you

Are you a passionate C++ developer or Robotics Engineer eager to apply your skills to advanced engineering challenges? At ALTEN Nederland, we are looking for C/C++ Software Engineers who enjoy working close to hardware and building intelligent, high‑performance systems. Robotics is one of our flagship domains, but your expertise may also support automation, embedded systems, perception pipelines, and complex mechatronic platforms. Strong Python skills are highly valued, as many of our projects blend C++ performance with Python‑based tooling, testing, and rapid prototyping.

Example of main expectations

• Designing and validating software for sensing, actuation, and real‑time control, with a strong emphasis on C/C++ development and ROS‑based architectures.
• Developing and maintaining perception and sensor‑processing pipelines, including camera drivers, calibration routines, and hardware‑software integration.
• Implementing fault‑detection, inspection, and autonomy behaviours using computer vision, sensor fusion, and real‑time algorithms in C++ and Python.
• Assembling, configuring, and testing robotic or mechatronic platforms, ensuring seamless integration between software, electronics, and mechanical systems.
• Troubleshooting interactions across the full stack of mechanics, electronics, embedded systems, and control software to ensure robust and reliable operation.
• Conducting performance validation in realistic environments, tuning perception, motion, and control parameters for optimal system behaviour.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Robotics, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
• Proven experience as a Software Engineer, ideally in robotics, automation, or embedded systems.
• Strong hands‑on experience with C++ and ideally ROS.
• Python is an important asset, used for tooling, testing, data processing, and rapid prototyping.
• Experience with C for low‑level or embedded components is a strong advantage.
• Minimum 3 years of professional experience.
• Excellent command of English. Dutch is a plus, but not mandatory.
