TenneT is a leading European Transmission System Operator and a key player in the energy transition. With more than 23,500 kilometres of high‑voltage connections and around 5,000 employees, we ensure a secure and reliable electricity supply in the Netherlands and large parts of Germany.

You will be working within the Digital & Technology Transformation – Assets (DTT‑AT) unit. This unit is responsible for driving and enabling digital and data transformation across asset‑related business value streams, to build the grid faster, use it more efficiently, and deliver sustainable value to customers.

Within DTT‑AT, you will join the Onshore domain, which focuses on digital solutions supporting the development, maintenance, and optimization of the onshore high‑voltage grid. You will collaborate closely with business partners, enterprise architects, platform teams, competence centres, and other DTT value streams. Depending on the assignment, you may work in a permanent domain team or as part of a multidisciplinary project team.

The activities of this team directly contribute to the modernization, expansion, and sustainability of the Dutch high‑voltage electricity grid.

The role: How do you keep the Netherlands powered?

As an IT Architect – Assets (Onshore), you design, guide, and optimize IT and integration solutions that support capital‑intensive projects and the operation of the existing grid. You focus on technical and integration aspects and support the DTT‑AT Onshore Domain Architect in shaping the target application and data landscape.

Dagelijkse werkzaamheden

• Designing and guiding the implementation of scalable, high‑performing, secure, and cost‑effective IT and integration solutions (new and existing).
• Translating business needs into sustainable technical architectures aligned with enterprise architecture principles.
• Shaping and maintaining the application and technical landscape, ensuring modularity, maintainability, and cost efficiency.
• Supporting application lifecycle management, including assessment of technical debt, guiding upgrades and modernization, evaluating vendor solutions, supporting fit‑gap analyses for SaaS and COTS products.
• Introducing and applying innovative technologies to accelerate grid development, improve efficiency, and enhance customer experience.
• Collaborating closely with business teams and stakeholders, Enterprise Architecture, platform teams and Centres of Excellence, operational and delivery teams.
• Promoting end‑to‑end thinking, open dialogue, and continuous learning across teams.

You report to the Manager DTT Assets – Onshore.

Practical information

A Certificate of Conduct (VOG) must be in place before the candidate can start.

A Pre‑Employment Screening (PES) is standard upon onboarding.

Location: TenneT Arnhem / Hybride - 50/50, Tuesday and Wednesday are mandetory office days.

Availability for 40 hours per week is preferred over a 32-hour workweek.

Interviews: one round, maximum two.

Additional information

Suppliers must be aware of the laws and regulations regarding employment conditions and Tennet’s Collective Labour Agreement. This assignment is placed in scale 8.

Pre-employment screening: If the candidate is selected to start, a pre-employment screening will be executed. We will send you the required documents to be filled in and returned as soon as possible. The VOG must be received before the candidate could start.

• A university degree in a technical field and/or Business Administration.
• At least 8 years of relevant experience in IT architecture, digital transformation, application management, or IT delivery, preferably within the energy or utilities sector.
• Strong knowledge of complex application landscapes.
• Strong knowledge of asset management.
• Strong knowledge of agile working methods.
• Strong knowledge of IT governance and compliance.
• Proven experience with data‑ and digital‑enabled transformations, either from industry or consulting.
• Solid experience with IT solution delivery in waterfall, agile, and/or hybrid environments within complex stakeholder landscapes.
• Experience with strategic sourcing, including working with nearshore and offshore service providers.
• Dutch language skills are not mandatory; it is a big plus if you speak Dutch.
