Wat is onze inzet als LVVN Attaché Netwerk op gebied van biodiversiteit in Latijns-Amerika en West-Afrika? In gesprek met de LVVN-raden in Colombia en Côte d’Ivoire.   🌿 Deze week is het de Internationale Dag van de Biodiversiteit. Biodiversiteit is een voorwaarde voor voedselzekerheid, weerbare landbouwsystemen en economische ontwikkeling. Wereldwijd werken de LAN teams aan het behoud en herstel van biodiversiteit, samen met lokale en Nederlandse partners. Vandaag reizen we naar Latijns-Amerika en West-Afrika!   In een gezamenlijk interview blikken LVVN-raden Léontine Crisson MA vanuit Colombia, Peru en Ecuador en Ben Kubbinga vanuit Côte d’Ivoire en Senegal terug op hun werk van de afgelopen jaren. Ook al zijn de biodiversiteitsopgaven verschillend in deze twee regio’s, de kern is vergelijkbaar: landbouw, natuur en economische ontwikkeling grijpen voortdurend in elkaar. Rivieren als drager en verbinder voor een groene transitie in Boekarest 🌊 🌿 Op 22 mei is het de Internationale Dag van de Biodiversiteit. Wereldwijd werken de LVVN Attaché Netwerk (LAN) teams aan het behoud en herstel van biodiversiteit, samen met overheden, kennisinstellingen, bedrijven en maatschappelijke organisaties. Daarom besteden wij deze week aandacht aan verschillende voorbeelden uit de praktijk van internationale samenwerking rondom biodiversiteit. Het eerste voorbeeld: #Roemenië!   🇷🇴 De blauw-groene corridor in Boekarest Twee rivieren, die Boekarest doorkruisen, bieden kansen om de Roemeense hoofdstad groener, gezonder en klimaatbestendiger te maken. Op initiatief van het LAN team op de Nederlandse ambassade in Boekarest is een nieuwe Nederlands-Roemeense samenwerking gestart om deze kansen te verzilveren met Nature-based Solutions (NBS). Op die manier kan Nederlandse expertise bijdragen aan de ontwikkeling van een blauw-groene corridor door de stad. Tegelijkertijd brengt het nieuwe kansen voor kennisuitwisseling, onderzoek en het vinden van nieuwe (zaken)partners. Het doel is om samen met onder meer Bucharest Natural Park Association de biodiversiteit te versterken, de water- en luchtkwaliteit te verbeteren en veerkrachtigere stedelijke ecosystemen te creëren, voor nu en voor de toekomst🌱 🌳 Een pilot in Petricani De focus ligt op het natuurpark Petricani. Dit gebied zal dienen als een pilot en showcase voor het stedelijke ecologische herstel in Boekarest. Het project wil ook inwoners meer bewust maken van het belang en de voordelen van natuur en groen in hun omgeving. Daarom zullen groen onderwijs en het betrekken van de lokale gemeenschap integraal onderdeel uitmaken van het project. Op deze manier hopen we een blijvende milieu- en sociale impact te creëren in Boekarest en daarbuiten. Dutch and Indian partners are working to improve storage, logistics, and market access. #Colombia 🇨🇴 improving quality and reducing losses in the avocado value chain.   Colombia’s avocado sector is growing fast, but food loss remains a major challenge. #Ethiopia 🇪🇹 has the potential to become a major player in the potato sector, but several bottlenecks continue to limit growth. Challenges including limited access to quality seed potatoes, storage issues and weak market linkages. However, this also means clear opportunities for investment, knowledge exchange and cooperation to strengthen the sector and improve food security. Dutch involvement in the potato sector continues to play an important role through expertise, seed development and long-term cooperation. How is #FAO bringing food loss data together to target action more effectively? Carola Fabi, senior statistician and methodological innovation team leader at FAO’s statistics division, shares how FAO has developed the Food Loss and Waste Database: a global platform compiling evidence across countries, products, and supply chains to support monitoring and informed decision-making. The Permanente Vertegenwoordiging van Nederland bij de VN in Romev  supports these efforts to make data more accessible, strengthen international cooperation, and promote knowledge exchange to reduce food loss.
