  • Once you have a coffee club, coffee merch is only a matter of time ☕ The “Life outside the IDE” collection is inspired by everything that happens away from the screen — the breaks, routines, and small moments that help people do thoughtful work.

I’m one of those people who genuinely like working from the office. Mostly because at home I sometimes completely lose the boundary between work and not work. So all I think about is work, and the brain never really gets the chance to rest and process ideas properly 😵💫 In the office, it’s easier to pause for a bit, talk to the wonderful people around, grab coffee, reset the brain, and then continue. Sometimes the best way to move forward is to step away for 10 minutes and come back with a clearer head. One of my favorite parts of our Munich office culture is 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗲 𝗰𝗹𝘂𝗯 ☕. There, our colleagues share brewing tips, bring coffee from different countries after traveling, and somehow turn a simple coffee point into a very cozy place. Because of them, I learned how to brew V60 and started appreciating coffee in a completely different way. Very millennial, I guess 😅 And now JetBrains even has its own coffee drips as part of the “Life outside the IDE” collection — which of course we immediately wanted to check out… and accidentally turned our coffee break into a lifestyle ad 🥰 🫶 Maria Klennitskaya, Filipp Sokolov, Sergei Lebedev, Nikita Klepach

  • What does building at AI scale actually look like on the backend? In this Marco Show episode, Mohammed Aboullaite (backend engineer at Spotify, Java Champion) talks MCP integrations, multi-agent coding, Java at Spotify, and why running more AI agents means developers need sharper judgment, not less. 📺 Watch the full episode: https://lnkd.in/gjJ5hHGi Also available on your favorite podcast platforms.

  • Not every journey starts with a “yes”. Sometimes you need persistence and curiosity. Building tools for millions of developers is exciting. Doing it alongside people who deeply care about the craft makes it even better.

I was rejected 3 times when trying to get into JetBrains as a Software Developer, and I'm happy I didn't give up. This decision changed my career and life. After the third rejection, about an hour later, I received an invitation for an interview. I was happy because it was my chance to show my skills and get hired. From that moment things started changing. I remember the first time I merged changes into the master branch of IntelliJ IDEA, which many of you use daily. I was on cloud nine. It was so cool because those changes would soon be in the IDE for millions of developers, and I could point at the specific part of IDE and say: "This was my work". It's an indescribable feeling - making tools for developers as a developer. JetBrains hires people who are strong in their craft, and from my perspective it's a real thing I've observed many times. You can easily get inspired by someone with much more experience, or get advice from them. JetBrainers are welcoming when you approach them with your problems and happy to help. This, and more, is what makes JetBrains a perfect company for those who are passionate about tech, their craft, and want to build a career. After different positions in different companies, I finally found the company where I want to build a career - and it's JetBrains. Find desired position and apply: https://lnkd.in/ei8iUT-m Be patient, don't give up after rejection, just find different position after some time and try again, and keep in mind my story. How many rejections before you got hired where you really wanted?

  • The world's first computer programmer wasn't a modern engineer in a lab. She was a 19th-century visionary named Ada Lovelace. While her contemporaries saw early mechanical engines as nothing more than advanced calculators, Ada saw something completely radical. She understood that numbers could represent not just quantities, but symbols, music, language, and logic. She foresaw the conceptual foundation of modern computing as we know it today. By combining mathematics and imagination – a method she called "poetical science" – Ada published what is now considered the first computer program. She even articulated the limits of what machines could create independently… a concept that remains at the absolute center of our modern debates around AI. We’ve put together a video exploring how the origins of software were just as much about creative breakthroughs as they were about mathematics. Watch the full story: https://lnkd.in/dxD2NXUr How much of your daily coding feels like pure logic, and how much feels like creativity? Let us know in the comments.

  • Imposter syndrome is more common in tech than we often think. It’s the feeling that your success isn’t deserved. That you’ve fooled others into thinking you’re more capable than you are. And that eventually you’ll be “found out”. For many developers, this doesn’t just stay as a passing thought. And it influences the way they’re working. Over time, this can lead to anxiety, exhaustion and burnout. And our data reflects this! According to JetBrains’ Developer Ecosystem 2025 report, only 47% of devs rarely or never doubt their abilities. But 53% of software engineers experience imposter syndrome. And the image is not evenly distributed: Women and non-binary professionals report higher levels than men (67% compared to 52%) Junior devs report frequent self-doubt at nearly double the rate of senior developers (33% vs 17%) This #MentalHealthMonth it is worth remembering these feelings are common. You are not alone.
