  • A major milestone for Dutch Clean Tech. In May 2026, we successfully repaid €5.3 million to investors from an earlier bond issuance - fully on time and according to agreement. For us, this is about more than repayment. It is proof that sustainable investment in water infrastructure can combine financial return with real-world impact. At the same time, we are opening a new chapter. Where participation was previously available from €100,000, investors can from the beginning of June participate from €10,000 through a separate bond issuance. Why? Because the global need for clean water is accelerating rapidly. Around 80% of wastewater worldwide is still discharged untreated The UN expects more than half of the world’s population to face water scarcity by 2050. Governments and industries are investing heavily in water reuse, treatment and reliable water infrastructure. Dutch Clean Tech develops, finances and operates water treatment projects in regions where clean water is becoming increasingly critical, including Mexico and Guatemala. #cleanwater #waterscarcity #impactinvesting #watertreatment #investors #financialreturn

  • Dutch Clean Tech reached a principal agreement yesterday for the SARAT project in Altamira, Mexico. With this important milestone, the project now officially moves into the next phase towards execution and realization. The SARAT project is a large-scale water treatment and reuse initiative focused on treating sewage water from the nearby city of Altamira and supplying the treated and reused water to surrounding industries. A perfect example of how water reuse can create sustainable industrial water solutions while significantly reducing pressure on freshwater resources. In June, the project will move into the engineering, soil investigation and site preparation phase. Construction is expected to start towards the end of this year. This principal agreement marks another important step in Dutch Clean Tech’s international growth strategy and mission to develop, finance and operate sustainable water infrastructure projects worldwide. We would like to thank all partners, stakeholders and supporters involved in making this possible. #milestone #mexico #watertreatment #international #growth #infrastructure #water #investment

  • The Netherlands is warning about future drinking water shortages. For decades, clean drinking water was considered something unlimited and self-evident in one of the world’s most water-rich countries. But that reality is changing rapidly. In recent weeks, major Dutch media outlets including Het Financieele Dagblad, NRC, NOS and Trouw reported on: increasing pressure on drinking water infrastructure pollution of surface and groundwater, rising purification costs, climate-related freshwater stress, growing competition between industry, housing and agriculture for the same water capacity. Dutch drinking water companies are now openly warning that shortages may become unavoidable without large-scale investments and new water sources. The facts are becoming impossible to ignore: • Water is not becoming scarce because there is less water on earth. • Water is becoming scarce because clean, usable water requires infrastructure, purification, investment and long-term vision. At Dutch Clean Tech, we have been highlighting this shift for years. Not from a perspective of fear, but from the belief that water infrastructure will become one of the defining investment and societal themes of this century. Around the world, demand is accelerating for: water reuse, circular wastewater treatment, decentralized purification systems, sustainable drinking water production, public-private water partnerships. This is exactly the space in which Dutch Clean Tech operates. From Mexico to Guatemala and beyond, we see governments and industries increasingly searching for scalable and sustainable water solutions. The global infrastructure transition is no longer only about energy. It is increasingly about water. #water #drinkingwater #infrastructure #sustainability #cleantech #waterreuse #circulareconomy #impactinvesting #dutchcleantech

  • Water is rapidly emerging as one of the most important investment categories. According to Forbes, an estimated $58 trillion in global economic value is exposed to water-related risks. At the same time, global institutions such as The World Bank Group and OECD - OCDE highlight a massive funding gap, with $7 trillion needed by 2030 and up to $22 trillion by 2050 to secure water infrastructure and supply. Water is therefore no longer just a utility - it is becoming a strategic asset class. The scarcity of clean water, ageing infrastructure, and increasing regulation are reshaping markets worldwide. Water is being economically repriced and integrated into long-term investment strategies, alongside energy and infrastructure. At Dutch Clean Tech, we have been highlighting this shift for years. It is encouraging to see leading platforms, research institutions, and global analyses pointing in the same direction. This brings us one step closer to closing the global investment gap - while addressing one of the world’s most pressing challenges. #investmentgap #waterscarcity #data #water #infrastructure #economicvalue

  • Will water become as valuable as oil? The Netherlands has long been defined by its relationship with water. But that position can no longer be taken for granted. Across the world, water is rapidly becoming a strategic asset. In the Middle East, critical infrastructure such as water treatment plants is increasingly part of geopolitical tension. It highlights a simple reality: whoever controls water, controls stability. At the same time, global pressure on clean water continues to rise. Not because water itself is scarce, but because investment in treatment and infrastructure has been insufficient for decades. We are now seeing the consequences. Even in the Netherlands, businesses can no longer be automatically connected to the water grid. Capacity is limited and regulations are tightening towards 2027. At Dutch Clean Tech, we see this shift every day. In regions like Mexico and Guatemala, demand for reliable and sustainable water infrastructure is accelerating rapidly. Access to clean water directly drives economic development, public health and long-term resilience. The conclusion is clear: water is abundant as a resource, but scarce as a clean and usable product. And that scarcity is what will define its true value. #waterscarcity #value #resource #cleanwater #infrastructure #resilience #economicgrowth

  • This past weekend, we took a moment at Dutch Clean Tech to come together, slow down and celebrate Easter as a team. Away from the day-to-day pace of projects, growth and international developments, we welcomed not only our colleagues, but also their partners and children. It was a great reminder that behind everything we build, there is a team of people and families that make it all possible. Our office turned into a place full of energy and laughter. The Easter Bunny made a special appearance, there was an enthusiastic egg hunt, and outside a storm course brought plenty of fun (and a bit of healthy competition). Meanwhile, everyone enjoyed fresh sandwiches and a relaxed atmosphere. It was a special day that reflects what Dutch Clean Tech stands for: building something meaningful together, while also taking the time to connect and celebrate. Thank you to everyone who joined and made it such a memorable weekend. #team #easter #fun #celebrate #connect #colleagues

  • A moment to reflect on something many take for granted, but shouldn’t. The reality: • Over 2 billion people globally lack access to safe drinking water. • Around 3.6 billion people live without adequate sanitation. • 70% of the world’s freshwater is used for agriculture. • By 2050, global water demand is expected to increase by over 50%. And an estimated 70% of water treatment systems worldwide do not function properly. Water is at the core of everything. Health. Food security. Economic development. Stability. The challenge is not only scarcity, but also quality, infrastructure and accessibility. At Dutch Clean Tech, we see both the urgency and the opportunity every day and the impact that can be made when technology, investment and long-term vision come together. World Water Day is not just a moment; it is a global wake-up call. #worldwaterday #waterscarcity #facts #wakeupcall #infrastructure #cleanwater

  • While water is one of the most critical resources for industry and society, many industrial processes produce water streams that are complex and heavily contaminated. At Dutch Clean Tech, we spend every day finding solutions for these types of challenges. On an oil production site in Abu Dhabi, we are currently building a water treatment installation to process 13,000 m³ of water per day, separating the water, oil, residues, and solid particles before reinjecting it into the reservoir. Not only does this process clean the water, preventing contaminated water from entering the environment, but it also helps maintain pressure in the oil field and improves production efficiency. The installation - like all our projects - was developed and built by our sister company Pielkenrood. With over 60 years of experience in water treatment and separation technology, Pielkenrood has designed and built over 1,000 installations worldwide, maintaining an exceptional reliability record. In our latest blog, project manager Dion van Doorne shares how these systems work in practice and why robust engineering is essential in the treatment of complex industrial water streams. • Holbox (Quintana Roo), clean drinking water for the island community On the island of Holbox in Mexico, Dutch Clean Tech is developing a small-scale drinking water treatment installation that will supply clean water to hotels, restaurants, households, medical posts and schools. Project highlights: • Capacity: 1,250 m³ per day • Concession period: 25 years • Construction time: approximately 6 months Holbox faces a structural shortage of clean drinking water. This project addresses that challenge while creating a sustainable local supply model in which treated water is delivered per cubic meter to end users. We are developing the project together with a strong local partner and expect to finalize the joint venture in April. After that we will immediately start the design and construction phase. Our goal is to deliver the first cubic meter of water to customers by the end of 2026. The total investment amounts to USD 5 million. The investment is expected to be recovered within 10 years, while our investors receive a return of approximately 9% per year during the concession period. Projects like this show how water infrastructure can combine social impact with long-term stable investment opportunities. #water #cleantech #waterinfrastructure #dutchcleantech #mexico #impactinvesting #sustainability
