  • One of the largest roadside artworks in Australia is being protected by products supplied by our International brand. The Australian Light Horse Sculpture Parade in Western Sydney honors the mounted military units that served during World War I. All 790 of the radiating markers have been repainted with a system featuring Interzinc 52, Interplus 1180 and Interthane 4379, which provides maximum protection and performance. A bespoke Light Horse Interchange Red color was also developed for the project, which is located at Australia’s largest interchange. (Photos: Ian R Stehbens).

  • What lessons can academia teach us about the built environment? We visited one of the world’s top three architecture schools to find out. With more than half of our revenue being connected to construction, we went in search of expert insight into how we can help make our cities more resilient and sustainable. • Amazing gesture from our Alba customers in Argentina, who produced a stunning book to mark the paint brand’s 100th anniversary. Artist and illustrator Juan Facta was commissioned to create the hand-drawn work of art, which celebrates everyone who has been part of the journey. It’s an elegant tribute to a century of history painted by thousands of hands. Take a look at how it was made.

  • Ever considered how the psychology of color plays a crucial role in exhibition design? Color choice is fundamental to the visitor experience – perfectly demonstrated by the ongoing Barbara Kasten: Post-Abstraction exhibition being staged at the Zachęta – National Gallery of Art in Poland. To help minimize environmental distractions and enable visitors to focus solely on the artworks, we supplied 340 liters of Dulux Professional paint – mainly in white – to create a clean, neutral backdrop. It’s the art of curating with color. Photos: Bartosz Górka, courtesy of Zachęta – National Gallery of Art

  • Delighted to help preserve cultural and natural heritage as part of a major “Let’s Colour” project at An Binh Island, Ly Son, in Vietnam. More than 80 houses have been repainted and 20 new murals created to raise awareness of sea turtle and marine ecosystem conservation. Working together with the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), we sponsored nearly 10,000 liters of Dulux Weathershield paint in colors that harmonize with the island’s natural landscape. The activities are part of an ongoing partnership between AkzoNobel and IUCN to strengthen marine conservation in Vietnam.

  • Painting Estonia’s tallest lighthouse was more than a restoration project – it was about preserving a piece of history. Built in 1890 – to replace the original 1724 structure – Pakri Lighthouse sits 80 meters inland and rises 52 meters above the ground. It was recently coated with 700 liters of Sikkens Sil Grund, Nordsjö Murtex Silicate and Sikkens Alphaloxan Farbe, which will ensure long-lasting protection in the harsh coastal environment. The chosen shade was matched as closely as possible to the original color, a soft, warm tone which complements the natural hues of the surrounding limestone cliffs and Baltic Sea landscape.
