PC 2021 Update, Open Mic Night, and Global Finale at Gitex Future Stars
TiE Women Updates - Q2 2021 Edition
Dear Members,
I am happy to let you know that the TiE Women Initiative is going from strength to strength in Year 2.
Pitch Competition
Some key highlights regarding our flagship Pitch Competition are noted below:
1. Phase 1 of the Pitch Competition is well underway and we have close to 40 Global Chapters onboarded to TiE Women.
2. We have received 700+ applications thus far from women entrepreneurs worldwide.
3. This years' Grand Finale is planned as part of Gitex Future Stars in Dubai. The Finale will be held between Oct 16-20, 2021 where inter alia, attractive equity-free cash prizes, investment opportunities, and access to market opportunity in Canada are in store for the winners.
In addition, we have been consistently building our other pillars of Open Mic nights and Connect Series.
Open Mic Nights (OMN)
Open Mic Nights have received a lot of traction from Chapters this year. The Chapters of Bangalore, Chandigarh, Delhi-NCR, and Surat came together to host a Joint Open Mic Night in June. The four chapters displayed amazing camaraderie in co-hosting such a massive event, the first one of its kind. Coimbatore and Chennai will soon host a Tanglish (Tamil plus English) OMN in July. Plans to host an International OMN in August with the participation of Chapters like Oregon, Dubai, Hyderabad, and Lahore are in the works.
Connect Series
Our most recent Connect Series event in June had Jeyasree Ravi, founder of Palam Silks as speaker. Our Co-Chair, Dharti Arvind Desai kept the audience riveted with this engaging conversation that showcased Jeyasree's amazing journey of fortitude and grit in a male-dominated industry.
Aspiring to Win
Last but not the least, we organized an event called "Aspiring to Win" in June to showcase all 26 Chapter winners from last year's Pitch Competition. Bringing all the winners back on a common platform to speak about how participating in the Pitch Competition helped them in their business and lives was truly inspirational for this year's applicants who are raring to go. In addition, it provided the much-needed impetus for revving up the application numbers for this year.
This and a lot more in this quarterly edition of the TiE Women newsletter.
The applications for Global Pitch Competition 2021 are closing today - June 30th, 2021. Look forward to an exciting next few months where women entrepreneurs will emerge as Chapter Winners, all set to compete at the Finale in October in Dubai.
