Regulatory update: Listeria monocytogenes 🧫 ⚖️ From the 1st of July 2026, producers of ready-to-eat foods intended for the EU market will have to contend with stricter assessments of their detection of Listeria monocytogenes (LMOs), a pathogenic bacterium that causes the infection listeriosis.    According to Commission Regulation (EC) 2073/2005, manufacturers will be required to provide proof that LMOs levels in ready-to-eat products will not exceed the maximum limit value of 100 CFU/g by the best-before date.  The Eurofins network of Food & Feed Testing laboratories in Germany provides customised physicochemical and challenge test solutions, supporting food manufacturers in navigating a dynamic regulatory landscape and safeguarding public health. 👉 Learn more here: https://lnkd.in/eyzf_YrP #Eurofins #TestingForLife #FoodSafety #ChallengeTesting

During her time with Eurofins BfB Oil Research, a Eurofins company that provides high-quality fuel and lubricant analysis and optimisation services, she has strengthened her skills through a range of projects: “I have gained autonomy, precision, and a better understanding of customer expectations, which allows me to be fully effective in my role today.” Reflecting on her journey, she shares: “I have been a laboratory technician since 1988, and I truly enjoy my profession, especially thanks to the variety of tasks and tests we perform every day. Every analytical method has a unique purpose and contributes to the development of more efficient and more environmentally friendly fuels and industrial lubricants. My expertise in infrared testing also keeps me motivated.” What continues to stand out to her? “Our small team of fewer than fifteen people, creates a supportive and collaborative environment. Each team member is valued for their unique expertise and positive energy. As a close-knit team, our work is both efficient and rewarding.” 🚗 Fun fact: Nathalie enjoys working alongside her nephew, pictured here, who has been part of Eurofins BfB Oil Research for more than 4 years. Eurofins CDMO Alphora announces integration of advanced Continuous Flow technology in API manufacturing 🧪 Eurofins CDMO Alphora has expanded its Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient (API) manufacturing capabilities with the integration of advanced, custom-built Continuous Flow (CF) technology into its operations. Developed in-house by Eurofins CDMO Alphora scientists in conjunction with a local university, the new CF equipment line provides enhanced process control, improved safety, and greater production agility, facilitating more robust and sustainable API manufacturing as well as enabling substantial escalation of complex manufacturing processes that are typically difficult to scale effectively. Microplastics enter the U.S. regulatory spotlight 🔬 On April 2nd, 2026, the U.S Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) announced coordinated actions to address the growing public health concerns surrounding microplastics. For the first time, the EPA has included microplastics as a priority contaminant group in the sixth proposed edition of the Contaminant Candidate List (CCL 6), a key element of the Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA). In tandem, the Advanced Research Projects Agency for Health (ARPA-H) launched its ‘Systematic Targeting of Microplastics’ (STOMP) initiative, a groundbreaking national programme focused on: • Measuring microplastics in water and human tissue • Identifying the most harmful plastics and exposure pathways • Future efforts for developing methods to remove microplastics from the human body Together, these actions represent the most comprehensive effort in the USA to date to understand and address microplastics across both environmental and human health indices – a clear indication that microplastics have transcended an emerging issue and become a regulatory priority. Monitoring microplastics in the Savegre River 🔎 Eurofins Environment Testing Hungary has collaborated with the Hungarian University of Agriculture and Life Sciences (MATE) and the Quetzal Education Research Center (QERC) on an international research initiative to investigate microplastic contamination in Costa Rica’s Savegre River.The multi-disciplinary consortium joined forces to conduct field sampling and laboratory analysis. The team at Eurofins Environment Testing Hungary analysed samples for microplastic particles using Fourier-transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy. Their analyses yielded high-quality data that provides a valuable baseline for future monitoring of the river, supporting conservation and long-term environmental stewardship.
