We’re proud to mark World Tuna Day and celebrate Princes Group’s milestone of 100% MSC-certified branded tuna, a real step forward for more sustainable oceans.
Today marks World Tuna Day and this year we're proud to mark the occasion having achieved our 2025 commitment: 100% of Princes branded tuna is now sourced from Marine Stewardship Council (MSC)-certified fisheries. That's around 70 million cans a year carrying the blue ecolabel, giving shoppers clear assurance that their tuna comes from independently certified fisheries that protect fish stocks, marine ecosystems and have robust governance. This milestone is the result of a 10-year journey: investing in traceability, transforming our supply chain, and working closely with fishing partners committed to the same goal. Since 2022, we've helped drive a fifteenfold increase in MSC-certified ambient tuna on UK shelves. World Tuna Day reminds us why this matters. Tuna are vital to ocean ecosystems, food security, and coastal livelihoods around the world. Thanks to better management, over 90% of tuna landed globally now come from healthy stocks, up from 75% in 2017. But there's more work to do. Thriving oceans depend on the choices we make, which is why we'll keep pushing for progress across tuna and our wider seafood range. #WorldTunaDay #SustainableSeafood #MSCCertified #SustainablyPrinces
