Art and wine share a natural affinity, both shaped by time, care, and the way each of us interprets them. They’re not simply consumed; they invite attention and a personal connection. Last night, in the remarkable setting of Terrazza Gallia, on the 7th floor of Excelsior Hotel Gallia, overlooking Milan, this dialogue took shape through "A Journey through Art and Wine". Guided by Head Sommelier Paolo Emilio Porfidio, with a selection of wines from Il Calepino winery, and enriched by the storytelling of Danilo Dagradi, founder of Milanodavedere, two masterpieces from the Veneranda Biblioteca Ambrosiana — Leonardo’s Portrait of a Musician and Caravaggio’s Basket of Fruit - were experienced in a fresh and engaging way. Encountering these works outside their traditional museum setting, through carefully crafted reproductions, transformed the perspective. In this more informal and shared environment, they felt closer and more accessible, naturally becoming part of the moment. Experiences like this don’t seek to replace the museum, but to act as a bridge toward it, deepening Excelsior Hotel Gallia’s dialogue with the cultural world, encouraging a more personal connection with art, and ultimately inspiring the desire to discover the original works at the Ambrosiana firsthand. The journey will continue on June 4th, with another work from the Pinacoteca Ambrosiana and a new, carefully selected range of wines to discover.
