  • Bridging Classroom Learning with Industrial Practice ⚙️ The Department of Mechanical Engineering at Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham successfully organized an industrial visit to the Volvo Trucks manufacturing facility, Hoskote, Bengaluru, on 24th April 2026. This visit provided our students with valuable exposure to real-time heavy vehicle manufacturing processes and modern production systems. Students had the opportunity to observe key operations such as cab fabrication using MIG and spot welding, multi-layer paint shop processes, structured assembly line operations, and powertrain integration. One of the most impactful aspects of the visit was understanding how theoretical concepts from manufacturing technology, material science, and production engineering are implemented in a real industrial environment. The emphasis on quality control, safety protocols, and systematic workflow offered students a comprehensive perspective of professional manufacturing practices. The interaction with industry experts and the exposure to end-to-end truck assembly and testing significantly enhanced students’ practical understanding and motivated them to explore careers in the automotive and manufacturing sectors. A sincere thank you to the team at Volvo Trucks for facilitating this insightful and enriching experience. Faculty Coordinators: Dr. Ulhas K. A bit of a full-circle moment for me 😊 Recently got the chance to be back at Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Bengaluru campus — but this time not as a student, rather as an Industry Delegate representing Ingersoll Rand It felt great to walk the same corridors again, reconnect with the environment that shaped me, and now share a few thoughts on advanced materials and computational methods from an industry perspective. Grateful for the opportunity and the warm welcome. Moments like this really remind you how far you’ve come. Glad to have attended the AICTE IDEA Lab Industry Conclave 2026 at Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Bengaluru Campus. As an alumnus of Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Coimbatore , it was a full-circle moment to return—now representing Ingersoll Rand —and contribute back to the same institution from an industry perspective. I was part of the Computational Methods discussions, contributing ideas around: • Advanced CFD approaches (turbulence modelling, multiphase flows) • Meshless and reduced-order modelling techniques • Fatigue life and probabilistic damage modelling • Coupling experimental data with high-fidelity simulations for validation The conversations were strongly focused on translating these methods into industry-driven problem statements and deployable engineering solutions. Encouraging to see Amrita pushing deeper integration between simulation, experimentation, and real-world applications.
