The biggest shift in GCCs is not operational. It is strategic. A few years ago, many organizations viewed Global Capability Centers primarily as execution centers focused on efficiency and delivery. Their role was largely tied to operations, support functions, and cost optimization. Today, leadership teams are looking at GCCs very differently. They are asking: -Can this GCC drive innovation? -Can it build future capabilities? -Can it influence business outcomes? -Can it become a long-term strategic advantage? That shift changes everything. Because once a GCC becomes strategic, the expectations increase significantly. -Leadership quality matters more. -Talent strategy becomes critical. -Culture becomes important. -Capability building becomes continuous. The conversation moves beyond headcount and cost and starts focusing on long-term value, scalability, innovation, and business impact. This is why the most successful GCCs today are not built only through infrastructure or hiring volume. They are built through strong leadership vision, future-focused workforce planning, and the ability to create meaningful business contribution. The perception of GCCs has evolved rapidly over the past few years, and organizations that still view them through an old operational lens may struggle to unlock their full potential. The organizations that understand this shift are not just scaling GCCs. They are building global capability ecosystems designed for long-term growth and transformation. This post is part of my The Rise of GCCs: Talent, Hiring & Workforce Strategy series. Episode 29: Leadership perspective on GCCs. 👉 Stay tuned for next posts of this series #GCC #GlobalCapabilityCenters #Leadership #TalentStrategy #FutureOfWork #WorkforcePlanning #HRTrends #BusinessTransformation #Recruitment #IndiaGrowth

There are still many misconceptions surrounding Global Capability Centers, despite how rapidly the ecosystem has evolved. For years, GCCs were viewed primarily as cost-saving and support-focused operations. However, modern GCCs are now contributing to innovation, digital transformation, strategic decision-making, and business growth. At the same time, hiring challenges, workforce expectations, and expansion strategies have also changed significantly. Understanding these shifts is important for organizations looking to build and scale successful GCC operations in today’s environment. This post is part of my The Rise of GCCs: Talent, Hiring & Workforce Strategy series, where I explore the changing realities of the GCC ecosystem. Episode 28: Common myths about GCCs. The organizations that adapt to the current reality rather than outdated assumptions will be better positioned for long-term success. 👉 Stay tuned for next posts of this series #GCC #GlobalCapabilityCenters #FutureOfWork #TalentStrategy #WorkforcePlanning #HRTrends #Recruitment #BusinessTransformation #Innovation #IndiaGrowth

The journey of building a successful Global Capability Center is often more complex than it appears. Many organizations begin with clear goals around scalability, efficiency, and capability building. However, as operations grow, hiring challenges, leadership gaps, and workforce planning issues begin to emerge. What separates successful GCCs from struggling ones is often not just investment or infrastructure, but the ability to build strong teams, establish the right culture, and align talent strategy with long-term business goals. Over time, the role of GCCs also evolves from execution-focused operations to strategic business contribution. This post is part of my The Rise of GCCs: Talent, Hiring & Workforce Strategy series, where I explore the realities behind building and scaling GCCs. Episode 27: A case-style breakdown of what makes GCCs scale successfully. Organizations that approach GCC growth strategically are more likely to create sustainable long-term value. 👉 Stay tuned for next posts of this series #GCC #GlobalCapabilityCenters #TalentStrategy #WorkforcePlanning #Leadership #HRTrends #FutureOfWork #Recruitment #BusinessTransformation #IndiaGrowth

The GCC expansion story in India is beginning to move beyond traditional metro cities. While Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Pune, and Chennai continue to remain major GCC hubs, organizations are increasingly exploring Tier 2 cities as part of their long-term workforce and growth strategy. Access to untapped talent pools, lower operational costs, and reduced hiring competition are some of the key drivers behind this shift. At the same time, improvements in infrastructure and digital connectivity are making expansion into these cities more viable than before. However, scaling operations in Tier 2 locations also comes with its own set of challenges, including leadership availability, employer branding, and specialized talent access. This post is part of my The Rise of GCCs: Talent, Hiring & Workforce Strategy series, where I explore the evolving future of GCC growth and workforce planning. Episode 26: Tier 2 cities and GCC expansion. Organizations that approach this shift strategically could unlock significant long-term advantages. 👉 Stay tuned for next posts of this series #GCC #GlobalCapabilityCenters #Tier2Cities #TalentStrategy #FutureOfWork #WorkforcePlanning #HRTrends #Recruitment #IndiaGrowth #BusinessTransformation

The hiring landscape in Global Capability Centers is evolving rapidly. As GCCs take on more strategic and innovation-driven responsibilities, organizations are rethinking what they look for in talent. The future of hiring will be less focused on routine execution and more focused on adaptability, problem-solving, and long-term capability. Technology and AI will also play a significant role in transforming how organizations attract, assess, and manage talent. At the same time, continuous learning and upskilling will become increasingly important for both employees and employers. This means hiring strategies will need to evolve alongside changing business expectations. This post is part of my The Rise of GCCs: Talent, Hiring & Workforce Strategy series, where I explore the future of workforce and talent trends in GCCs. Episode 25: The future of GCC hiring.
