“Hospital kitni door hai?” (How far is the nearest hospital?) In the hills of Kumaon, this question carries weight. It shapes when people seek care — or whether they can at all. Since 2014, Aarohi’s Mobile Medical Unit has been travelling across Nainital, Almora, and Champawat — reaching over 70,000 people across 130 villages, and conducting more than 1,100 camps so far. Inside a single moving clinic: a doctor, diagnostics, medicines — even ultrasound services. Nearly 2,000 screenings each year, bringing essential maternal care closer to home. For many, this means fewer long journeys, timely treatment, and one less barrier between need and care.
