Alibaba Group has unveiled a new AI chip called the Zhenwu M890 as it pushes to build domestic alternatives to NVIDIA processors in China. The company says the chip is three times faster than its previous generation and is built for AI agents handling complex tasks with limited human input. The chip was launched alongside a new server system, Panjiu AL128, at Alibaba Cloud Summit. Alibaba also shared plans for two future chips, the V900 and J900, expected in 2027 and 2028. Alibaba last year pledged more than 380 billion yuan towards cloud and AI infrastructure. The company also introduced Qwen 3.7-Max, its latest AI model for coding and long-running agent tasks. #Alibaba #AI #Nvidia #ChinaTech #Semiconductors

Informatica and Microsoft are expanding their AI collaboration with new integrations announced at Informatica World 2026 in Las Vegas. The move brings Informatica’s headless Intelligent Data Management Cloud into Microsoft Foundry and expands support for Microsoft Fabric. The integration allows Microsoft Azure customers building AI agents in Foundry to access Informatica’s data governance, metadata search, and data provisioning tools directly within workflows. Informatica also said customers can now ingest billions of rows of enterprise data into Microsoft Fabric more efficiently. “Trusted data for AI and trusted data for analytics are the foundation of scaling responsible, transformational AI,” said Rahul Auradkar, President and GM of Data Foundations at Salesforce. Informatica from Salesforce has announced four new capabilities deepening its collaboration with Snowflake at Informatica World 2026 in Las Vegas, spanning agentic AI integration, access governance, and open-format data discovery. The innovations are designed to help enterprises build, govern, and scale AI on Snowflake with greater speed and confidence. Rik Tamm-Daniels, Vice President of Ecosystems and Technology at Informatica, said, "Enterprises don't just need fast AI, they need AI they can trust. The exciting innovations we're announcing today for Snowflake helps to ensure that agents built in Cortex AI and analytics workloads run by our joint customers are powered by governed, high-quality data and Trusted Context." The announcements include Informatica becoming one of the first Snowflake partners to deliver headless data management integration with Snowflake Cortex AI, general availability of row-level access policy management for Snowflake Tables, and CDGC scanners for Snowflake Managed Iceberg Tables that automatically extract metadata, map lineage, and apply AI-powered profiling. Christopher Child, Vice President of Product at Snowflake, said, "From one of our ecosystem's first MCP integrations with Cortex AI to unified governance for open-data, these capabilities enable joint customers to move faster with AI without compromising on governance or openness." Informatica from Salesforce has announced deeper integration with Amazon Web Services (AWS) at Informatica World 2026 in Las Vegas, making its Model Context Protocol servers and CLAIRE Agent skills available across AWS AI services, including AWS Agent Registry and Amazon Quick. The integrations are designed to embed trusted, governed, and context-rich enterprise data directly into AI agents, addressing what the company describes as one of the biggest barriers to enterprise AI adoption: unreliable and fragmented data. Rahul Auradkar, President and GM of Data Foundations at Salesforce, said, "By plugging our data management intelligence directly into AWS agentic workflows, we are giving developers and business users the tools they need to build agents that act on trusted, governed, and contextual data." The integrations cover three core capabilities: a Metadata Explorer MCP server that ensures agents understand asset classifications and business terms, an MDM MCP server that prevents agents from acting on fragmented or duplicate records, and data quality MCPs that validate information at the point of entry. Swami Sivasubramanian, VP of AWS Agentic AI at AWS, said, "The integration of Informatica's MCP servers into the AWS Agent Registry and Amazon Quick marks a milestone in our joint commitment to cutting-edge AI innovation." Informatica MCP Servers on AWS Agent Registry are available in preview for US regions, while CLAIRE Agent skills on AWS Agent Registry and Quick are available in preview globally. Standard Chartered plans to cut more than 15% of its support staff by 2030 as it expands the use of AI across banking operations. The move could impact thousands of roles across India, China, Singapore, Hong Kong, and Poland. The bank had around 52,000 employees in support roles last year. CEO Bill Winters said the shift is about replacing “lower-value human capital” with technology and investment. “We don't have job losses, but we do have job role reductions in favour of the machines, and that will accelerate as we go forward into AI,” he said. JP Morgan Chase & Co CEO Jamie Dimon and Goldman Sachs President John Waldron have also recently spoken about AI transforming banking operations and back-office work. #AI #StandardChartered #JobCuts #Automation #BankingRoles

Techno Digital, the digital infrastructure arm of Techno Electric & Engineering Co. Ltd., has commissioned a new edge data centre in Mahalakshmi, South Mumbai, in partnership with RailTel Corporation of India Ltd. The facility is fully operational, built to Rated-3 infrastructure standards, and offers latency of less than 150 microseconds from BSE in Nariman Point and less than 250 microseconds from NSE in BKC, targeting the real-time demands of Mumbai's financial and commercial ecosystem. Ankit Saraiya, Director and CEO of Techno Digital, said, "As India's digital economy scales, infrastructure requirements are evolving beyond capacity to include proximity and performance. The Mumbai Edge Data Centre is designed to align infrastructure with demand centres, particularly in high-performance environments such as financial services and real-time platforms." The facility runs on RailTel's nationwide fibre network spanning over 63,000 kilometres and is positioned near Mumbai's cable landing stations for high-speed global connectivity, while also being built to support sovereign and compliance-driven workloads. Following Mumbai, Techno Digital plans to launch five additional edge locations in quick succession, with a long-term roadmap to scale to 102 locations over the next three to four years, totalling 200MW. India's pace of AI adoption is moving faster than most technology leaders realise, and in many cases, it is already ahead of them. Sameer Raje, Country Leader and Head of India and SAARC at Zoom, joins AIM Front Page to talk about how Zoom has evolved from the company that became a verb during the pandemic into a full AI-first enterprise platform. He covers the philosophy of conversation to completion, how AI Companion orchestrates workflows across multiple agents and departments. Furthermore, he goes on to reveal why Zoom partners with both OpenAI and Anthropic rather than locking into a single model, and why India has become Zoom's second-largest market with a talent pool that is now central to global R&D. But the question that reverberates after the conversation ends is what India's extraordinary pace of AI adoption actually means for the companies building here, and how Zoom is planning to grow with it. You've probably had Zoom calls today, now it's time to see what calls Zoom is making.
