# Lesson 1-8 - Restore the Default SQL Server Management Studio Configuration
Users new to [!INCLUDE[ssManStudioFull](../../includes/ssmanstudiofull-md.md)] might have inadvertently closed or hidden windows and might have trouble restoring [!INCLUDE[ssManStudio](../../includes/ssmanstudio-md.md)] to the original layout. The following steps restore [!INCLUDE[ssManStudio](../../includes/ssmanstudio-md.md)] to the default environment layout.  
  
## Restoring Components  
  
#### To restore the windows  
  
1.  To restore windows to their original locations, on the **Window** menu, click **Reset Window Layout**.
