# Change a Version Name (Master Data Services)
  In [!INCLUDE[ssMDSshort](../includes/ssmdsshort-md.md)], change the version name to customize it for your organization.  
  
## Prerequisites  
 To perform this procedure:  
  
-   You must have permission to access the **Version Management** functional area.  
  
-   You must be a model administrator. For more information, see [Administrators (Master Data Services)](../master-data-services/administrators-master-data-services.md).  
  
-   You must have permission to access the Version Management functional area. For more information, see [Functional Area Permissions (Master Data Services)](../master-data-services/functional-area-permissions-master-data-services.md).  
  
### To change the version name  
  
1.  In [!INCLUDE[ssMDSmdm](../includes/ssmdsmdm-md.md)], click **Version Management**.  
  
2.  On the **Manage Versions** page, in the grid, double-click a cell in the **Name** column.  
  
3.  Type the new name.  
  
4.  Press ENTER.
