# Parallel Element (XMLA)
  Specifies how many processing jobs can run in parallel using the parent [Batch](../../../analysis-services/xmla/xml-elements-commands/batch-element-xmla.md) command.

|maxParallel|Optional **Integer** attribute. Indicates the maximum number of threads on which to run commands in parallel. If not specified or set to 0, the instance of [!INCLUDE[msCoName](../../../includes/msconame-md.md)] [!INCLUDE[ssNoVersion](../../../includes/ssnoversion-md.md)] [!INCLUDE[ssASnoversion](../../../includes/ssasnoversion-md.md)] determines an optimal number of threads based on the number of processors available on the computer.|
