# Install SQL Server on Linux

SQL Server vNext CTP 1.1 is supported on Red Hat Enterprise Linux and Ubuntu. It is also available as a Docker image which can run on Docker Engine on Linux or Docker for Windows/Mac. The topics in this section provide tutorials and general guidance for installing SQL Server vNext CTP 1.1 on Linux. 

## Supported platforms
SQL Server vNext CTP 1.1 is supported on the following platforms:

> You need at least 3.25GB of memory to run SQL Server on Linux.
> SQL Server Engine has only been tested up to 256GB of memory at this time.
