Release notes for SQL Server 2017 on Linux

The following release notes apply to [!INCLUDEssSQL17] running on Linux. This article is broken into sections for each release. The GA release has detailed supportability and known issues listed. Each cumulative update (CU) or general distribution release (GDR) has a link to a support article describing the CU changes as well as links to the Linux package downloads.

Tools

Most existing client tools that target [!INCLUDEssNoVersion] can seamlessly target [!INCLUDEssNoVersion] running on Linux. Some tools might have a specific version requirement to work well with Linux. For a full list of [!INCLUDEssNoVersion] tools, see SQL Tools and Utilities for SQL Server.

Latest versions for all packages

Important

This is the final cumulative update for [!INCLUDEssSQL17].

  • As of CU 4, [!INCLUDEssNoVersion] Agent is no longer installed as a separate package. It is installed with the Database Engine package and must be enabled to use.
  • The mssql-server-is package isn't supported on SUSE in this release. See SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) for more information.

How to install updates

If you have configured the CU repository (mssql-server-2017), then you will get the latest CU of [!INCLUDEssNoVersion] packages when you perform new installations.
